Our client is a full-service cannabis-cultivation business that designs, builds and manages cultivation, as well as sells nutrient lines. They were founded by three horticulturists who have dedicated significant portions of their lives to researching and experimenting with all aspects of cannabis cultivation.

Job Description

We are looking for a VP of Business Development, who will utilize their analytical skills, enthusiasm, strong business acumen and drive to represent Clade9 to increase brand awareness, shape customer preferences, generate deal opportunities within industrial farming, and be on the forefront of expanding the Company’s brand name, reputation, and expertise across the country.

The VP of Business Development is a Senior Engagement / Sales Relationship Management Role working collaboratively with the CFO to develop a strategic sales approach with governed officials, real estate executives and other go-to decision makers. In this role, the VP of Business Development creates, identifies and closes deals for our client. As the individual who represents and drives revenue, this person must be a self-starting closer who can create a robust pipeline of medical cannabis licensing and facility opportunities.


Responsibilities

  • Generate new license and facility business opportunities through existing relationships, professional networking, and cold-calling.
  • Drive brand awareness, campaigns, and lead generation via networking, associations, & trade shows
  • Meet and exceed an annual sales quota.
  • Own the sales cycle - from lead generation to closure.
  • Maintain account and opportunity forecasting within a CRM
  • Ensure 100% customer satisfaction and retention
  • Manage deal flow pipeline and ensure its timely dissemination to management team
  • Identify key industry associations that the Company will join and play the leading role in representing our client at such events
  • Develop business-to-business opportunities with branded packaged good companies that are in support of our client’s overall goals
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with state and local officials
  • Remain abreast of California cannabis legislation

Qualifications

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree (a degree in government affairs is a plus)
  • Strong, proven track record of closing deals that were SUCCESSFUL over the long-term
  • Proven networking skills and experience from a similar role, investment banking experience highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of the medical cannabis and operation ecosystem
  • Independent performer and entrepreneurial-minded
  • Ability to travel required
  • Comfortable working independently while maintaining strong relationships with other members of the team and organization
  • Comfortable playing a leading and supporting role
  • Deep experience in developing and negotiating proposals including terms sheets, letters of intent, memorandum of understanding
  • Ability to prepare preliminary financials around business opportunities
  • In-depth cannabis industry knowledge is preferred and dedication to continued education within the industry
