Job Description
The Director, Performance role is to develop and lead best-in-class, holistic digital experiences, and investment approaches. This role brings leadership, consistency, and digital expertise to the teams supporting dentsu and their clients. The role is imperative to bringing thought leadership to the client portfolio, # 1 customer service for clients and for client teams, as well as ensuring growth for all team members.
The Director, Performance is the frontline of the digital practice for dentsu and is aware of all digital needs and opportunities for their client, their teams, and can effectively manage resources locally and abroad. This role brings problem solving and connects audiences, planning and investment across channels. The influence that this role brings is critical for the strong positioning of the agency within our industry. The candidate must possess strong business acumen, be able to prioritize business requests for their teams, and effectively manage complex client demands whilst maintaining operational excellence.
The role consists of 3 pillars: digital expertise, team management, and administrative/operational excellence. The individual in this role is responsible for mentoring the digital acumen for their teams, by leveraging internal and external resources to upskill the team’s work. They must identify the team’s gaps and industry trends to ensure that dentsu is continuously bringing innovation, provide POVs and thought leadership surrounding digital media, data, and performance.
Accountabilities:
- Leverage your digital expertise to navigate clients’ requirements and objectives to create breakthrough digital experiences across a variety of channels including web, search, social, and video, defying conventions, and creativity.
- Provide ongoing mentorship to junior and intermediate digital team members, as well as senior members (Directors), on how to manage their teams.
- Develop and collaborate to build strong relationships with client and agency stakeholders across various disciplines, business areas and regions, developing a strong integrated product.
- Provide thought leadership to client and agency stakeholders surrounding industry trends, Canadian landscape changes, and general POVs on platforms and technology.
- Manage the workload, workflow, and professional development of digital team, manage the needs of team members to maximize learning and productivity while minimizing turnover
- Contributes to new business development activities and pitches
- Define standards, guidelines, and processes that enable agile delivery through automation
- Cross-collaborate with internal dentsu teams for product rollouts, adoption, and engagement
Qualifications
- Post-secondary Degree or Diploma in Media, Advertising, Business Administration, Marketing, IT, or related field.
- A minimum of 6 years of media planning, media buying, and digital media experience focused on all channels (social, search, programmatic, display, video, etc.), and SEO & Analytics work are also great assets for this role.
- 3+ years of managerial experience
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Experience running campaigns or leading an advertising team for the following platforms (in priority order): LinkedIn, Pinterest, Google Search, Facebook, Google Display, Instagram, Microsoft Ads, Twitter, among many others.
- Passion for using digital advertising to grow businesses and generate leads
- Passion for Canadian media and supporting local media
- Balances team and individual responsibilities. Exhibits objectivity and openness to others’ views. Gives and welcomes feedback. Contributes to building a positive team spirit
- Highly detail-oriented and can synthesize information from multiple perspectives and sources to make specific recommendations that align consumer and business needs.
- Solid understanding the evolving digital marketing landscape.
- Skilled in audience insights, segmentation, persona targeting and integrating propensity models.
