Job Description

The US Tax Manager is multi-faceted role reporting to the Americas Tax Director to support in a variety of challenging and exciting tax areas expected within a dynamic group.

The projects will range across the spectrum of our tax pillars, being optimisation, risk management and ensuring compliance with Group Tax Policies. This will require an ability to find risks, recommend practical solutions, and take decisions based on experience and judgement. The role requires an ability to decide strategy but also understand the detail, to work autonomously but also recognise where internal and external input may be needed.

Specifically, the role will include Federal tax reporting, provide M & A support to Americas Tax Director, liaison with Business Units, reorganisation projects tax support, input on supporting any tax audits and supply support for tax modelling and other projects

The successful candidate should be results oriented and flexible with the ability to manage multiple projects in a demanding, fast-paced environment. To be an essential part of the Tax team, the US Tax Manager will build relationship with local controllers in across the US where tax support is needed and support them in dealing with tax audits in a consistent and effective way.

Supporting Americas Tax Director on:

  • M & A support, which vary in size and complexity
  • US reorganisations and simplification - group is undertaking substantial simplification project to reduce number of legal entities and so involves tax input to manage transactions in a tax efficient manner
  • Prepare the yearend tax provision and liaison with Group Tax in the UK as well as external financial statement auditors
  • Leveraging technology and other resources to capture efficiencies and technical accuracies.
  • Support US businesses in dealing with tax notices, IRS communications, e.g., residency certificates, etc

Technical & Professional

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
  • Five or more years of corporate income tax experience in industry and/or public accounting.
  • Income tax provision experience is needed.
  • CPA and/or Big 4 experience is preferred but not needed. 
  • Extensive relevant record of accomplishment working within large, complex global organisations, with proven corporate tax experience with an ability to apply their technical knowledge in a practical way
  • Strong accounting & analytical, problem-solving skills and quantitative skills and a record of accomplishment for planning, doing and auditing work; the ability to see beyond the numbers to drive sound decision-making, systematically break down problems or processes into their parts and develop several alternative solutions
  • Strong IT (Information Technology) skills (excel and accounting packages)
  • Strong project & change management skills and ability to manage multiple projects and priorities at once
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, while being able to discuss detailed technical aspects clearly.

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $94,000-$152,375. Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications, and geography. Additionally, this position is eligible for discretionary incentive compensation. The company’s incentive compensation plan is subject to change.
