Job Description

You will be the strategic lead for the Amex consumer portfolio of brands and products working closely with the client partner and strategy team to support and drive the client’s business. You will work closely with clients on how to position their products and brands, connecting the work to the Amex global brand strategy and briefing potential creative output. You will be guiding insight generation, brand strategy, corporate strategy, selling narratives, strategic POVs and go-to market plans.

  • Thinks pro-actively about strategic and creative possibilities beyond current projects.
  • Is adept at the uncovering of cultural, brand, and category insights, with a strong mastery of both qualitative and quantitative research.
  • Takes a keen interest in the business side of the business .i.e how brands and businesses make money and what drives and disrupts their growth .i.e. thinks beyond just marketing and communications functions.
  • Has the experience and ability to lead creation of brand and product positioning.
  • As a key member of the team you must have the maturity and leadership skills to become a key player in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary cross-agency team.
  • Works closely and collaboratively with creative teams with a clear understanding of short- and long-term opportunities.
  • Acts as a catalyst in seeking out new ways to add value to the brand and in identifying future opportunities.
  • Demonstrates the ability to create big ideas and put them into action and practice for their clients and to foster strong relationships with senior level marketing clients.
  • Shows outstanding leadership and conceptual ability. Sets the example for a strong work ethic.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelors degree, MBA or equivalent business experience preferred
  • 10+ years of work experience in an advertising, digital or media planning agency, including at least three years in brand strategy or account planning required.
  • Strong experience in developing brand behavior or communications plans
  • Excellent communication ability: Ability to read and interpret information from a variety of sources and craft insights and data into compelling narratives that move the business
  • Has leadership and interpersonal skills including the ability to mentor talent

Additional Information

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $113,000 - $174,500. Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications, and geography. Additionally, this position is eligible for discretionary incentive compensation. The company’s incentive compensation plan is subject to change. A range of medical, dental, vision, 401(k) matching, paid time off, and/or other benefits also are available.
