We are a department that specializes in turning data into actionable insight to drive media outcomes. The SVP, Media Effectiveness builds, leads and unifies a cross-disciplinary team covering full funnel media analytics, data science and data innovation. The SVP is responsible for developing thought leadership, efficiencies, strategic direction, and alignment across the agency. Working closely with the EVP, clients and agency leads the SVP is expected to be an industry leading voice on media effectiveness innovation, build and lead a team of diverse talent and continually improve operational efficiencies.

The SVP needs to bring extensive experience in identifying solutions in sprawling media measurement marketplace and the business mindset to convert insights into strategic opportunities for our client. They ensure data accuracy and consistent reporting by identifying opportunities to improve processes and procedures and drive the implementation of solutions across the clients and agency.  The SVP is both an expert in the state of the marketplace today and can develop a vision on the future evolution of the data/measurement/technology industry and it’s impacts on media. This role is a crucial collaboration partner for our strategy, audience science, media tools, ad tech, data, and digital, and operational teams across the agency.


Our ideal candidate has a background in advertising media measurement, adtech/martech technology and functional understanding of addressable identity solutions. Additionally, the candidate possesses expertise in People Based Marketing, brand research, and measurement across personalization & segmentation, broadcast and digital media, CRM/database, and web analytics, as well as testing methods. The ideal candidate experienced working closely with ad operations teams, a strong quantitative analytics background expertise required to build and lead an innovative team, and the confidence to establish a consultative relationship with our internal executive team and senior clients.

Profile

We're looking for a high-energy collaborator who is experienced working across a complex business. The candidate is required to have proven experience building strong relationships with both internal teams and clients. Success in the role requires business acumen, an appetite for innovation, and the natural ability to assimilate, navigate and understand our client’s diverse cultures, business objectives, and media strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the strategic use of tools, technology, and platforms to drive client media effectiveness
  • Lead agency development efforts for advancing analytics capabilities, including jointly developing solutions with internal and external partners
  • Supporting new and organic business growth
  • Drive improvement in process and procedures to support efficiency and consistency
  • Drive strategic thinking and leadership for analytics, insights, and innovation
  • Develop close working relationships with the client teams
  • Help to set the vision for measurement, reporting, and analytics across all lines of business
  • Support and drive the client “test and learn” philosophy for measurement
  • Develop thought leadership in support of Carat’s agency capabilities and positioning
  • Create and execute a roadmap for the continued maturation of emerging media data capabilities including attention, video measurement, addressable media, and CTV

Requirements

  • 11+ years relevant Media or Analytics experience
  • Communication & Relationship building:
    • Client facing experience within media agencies, including leadership of the analytics function for a portfolio of clients
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to convey and package technical findings in simple terms
    • Very strong interpersonal skills, can collaborate across many functions and build bridges of trust and mutual respect
    • Executive presence
  • Management & Leadership:
    • Demonstrated agency departmental leadership ability
    • Executive stakeholder management & vision setting
    • Demonstrated thought leadership within the digital marketing or analytics industries
    • Act as the senior-most point-of-contact for analytics, adapting to business challenges with agility and the ability to take decisive action
    • Mentor and develop skill set of a diverse and geographically distributed team
  • Media Expert: Possesses a comprehensive understanding of media planning and buying, with a focus on media metrics
  • Analytics & Data Storytelling:
    • Analytics experience within integrated or digital communications or media agency preferred 
    • Experience with Data Visualization & Storytelling
    • Drive the efforts to improve our measurement capabilities, such as enhancing methodology and establishing process on in-channel and cross-channel incrementality, effectiveness and efficiency  
  • Data:
    • Understanding of relational databases and programming languages (e.g., SQL, R, or Python)
    • Experience with data sourcing, evaluation, onboarding, and integration
    • Be mindful of privacy and security: ensure that data handling meets legal and ethical standards to protect the agency and customers and their data
  • Quantitative: Working knowledge of machine learning, statistical testing, & regression modeling and the ability to closely partner with data science and machine learning specialists to deliver breakthrough client work
  • Qualitative: Familiarity with attitudinal surveys methods
  • Ad/MarTech Knowledge:
    • Demonstrates understanding of Ad/MarTech landscape across digital, mobile, etc. and their advantages/limitations
    • Experience with leveraging data sourced from Ad Tech platforms including, DoubleClick (DBM, DCM) Adobe (Analytics, AMO, AAM) Marin and Prisma
    • Understanding of media and digital reporting tools, familiarity with data sets, tools and vendors including but not limited to IAS, DMPs, Nielsen DAR and other media performance, viewability/valid/on target and audience reporting platforms and tools
  • Project Management: Proficiency in a Project/Product Management
  • The Basics: Proficiency in PowerPoint and Microsoft Excel is required

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $136,000-$210,000.  Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications, and geography. Additionally, this position is eligible for discretionary incentive compensation. The company’s incentive compensation plan is subject to change. A range of medical, dental, vision, 401(k) matching, paid time off, and/or other benefits also are available.
