Android Technical Lead

Job Description

We are seeking a Lead-level Android Developer to join our team.  The candidate will be responsible for prioritizing work intake requests and ensuring successful delivery of work by the team, identifying and prioritize opportunities within and around the platform and to mature team practices. This role requires an effective technical collaborator who has core Android development expertise, has built and deployed apps, and has the experience and desire to lead the Android development team.

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but not limited to the following:

  • Build, iterate, and enhance Android applications for our clients
  • Contribute to architecture and code review discussions
  • Optimize existing code for maintainability and testability
  • Collaborate on the development of unit, integration and automated UI tests
  • Prioritize requests and work intake to help the team focus their time on the most important work
  • Initiate, organize and drive development efforts for a team of engineers over a shared codebase
  • Drive solution design discussions with external teams while representing the client perspective and desires
  • Participate in vision and strategy exercises for the team
  • Identify pain points for the team and organization and work proactively to resolve them

 

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline
  • 7+ years of software development experience
  • 5+ years of professional experience in developing Android mobile applications
  • Proficient in building apps using Kotlin and Java experience is a plus
  • Expert understanding of Android SDK (Activity/Fragment Lifecycle, Services, Push, Core Location Services, Biometric authentication)
  • Expert with one or more common modern mobile architectural patterns (MVP, MVVM, VIPER) and reactive programming
  • Experience with Android end-to-end app development and App Store release process.
  • Solid grasp of mobile networking concepts, RESTful API and GraphQL web services
  • Experience with source control tools like Git
  • Experience with Xcode profiling tools to identify and improve app performance
  • Experience in leading a small group of team members of 3-4 members
  • Expertise in app memory management, multithreading, networking & Security

For positions not eligible for incentive or commission plans:  

The anticipated salary range for this position is $94,000-$146,000. Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications, and geography.  A range of medical, dental, vision, 401(k) matching, paid time off, and/or other benefits also are available.
