TEAM OVERVIEW

The Dentsu International (DI) Global Media Platforms team is responsible for managing the strategic direction of the Media Planning, Buying, and Finance systems which support the daily business operations of the dentsu Media Service Line (e.g., Carat, iProspect, dentsuX).   Our primary focus is to manage key suppliers globally to ensure consistent service across markets as well as to discover ways of optimizing business processes by implementing and/or integrating the right tools to accelerate growth.   We collaborate closely with Local market leadership to ensure that platforms are meeting business needs and provide guidance so that systems implementations are effectively executed. 

POSITION DESCRIPTION 

In collaboration with Technology and Operations leadership, the VP, Director (U.S.) is responsible for building and leading the Media Platforms center of excellence locally to provide best-in-class management and support of critical media systems within the U.S. market.  They will be responsible for third-party media platforms in the U.S., articulating the Media Service Line technology vision and providing a presence in the market.  This position will manage the relationship with key suppliers, drive product roadmaps, and develop a framework for identifying and supporting best-in-class suppliers to ensure that dentsu is maximizing the value of the Technology investment. 

The role requires a person who is both strategic and tactical as you will oversee the selection, implementation and support of critical Media Platforms such as Mediaocean, SQAD Mediatools, and other industry solutions for dentsu U.S.  This person will serve as an in-house subject matter expert on Media Platforms; oversee needs analysis and identification of process, system and workflow requirements and gaps; direct implementations of new or updated solutions; ensure effective use of these solutions and integrations with other dentsu systems; and provide vendor management for key Media Platforms providers. 

This is a highly visible role and interacts with staff at all levels within the organization as well as external vendors. The ideal candidate will be passionate about systems and media technology, have excellent communication skills, robust project management experience, and have experience with media planning, buying, and bill/pay processes and tools from an agency perspective.  

This position will report directly to the Global Head of Media Platforms, collaborating closely with other leaders from across our matrixed organizational structure.  This role will be initially focused on the U.S. market with opportunity to support the America’s region.

  • A strong, experienced team leader with effective relationship-building skills who is confident and effective in navigating difficult conversations 
  • A subject matter expert in global media platforms such as Mediaocean and SQUAD Mediatools and other industry solutions.
  • Experienced in digital, traditional and/or media planning, buying and finance systems
  • Able to effectively communicate at all levels, oversee the strategic direction of Media systems and support business-critical operations of the Media Service Line of DentsuAegis Network
  • Able to effectively “managie up” to SVP, and C-Level as well as collaborates across various groups and geographies

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Media Platforms Team Leadership:

  • Provide leadership, oversight and direction to the current U.S. Media Platforms team aligned with media service line technology vision
  • Assess and develop team capabilities and capacity to meet organizational needs
  • Guide the development of team members to create an effective and successful team
  • U.S. product owner for third-party media ERPs and main point of contact for identified media suppliers in the market
  • Establish and implement good working practices with Finance and Operations to ensure smooth day-to-day running of media platforms

Strategic Systems Management:

  • Responsible for the successful implementation of media platform solutions (3rd party) and integration with other systems
  • Support local market on managing business changes and transition to new system-based workflows
  • Identify and evaluate strategic new providers and solutions
  • Conduct regular assessments to ensure effective usage of solutions and identify potential gaps.
  • Ensure systems provider delivery and performance is meeting the standard required by dentsu globally and locally
  • Build strong relationships with key providers. Conduct regular status meetings with provider and user representatives
  • Strategic Thinking & Leadership:
  • Provide leadership and expertise in assessing Media tools, solutions, and workflows
  • Lead evaluations of new and/or alternative solutions
  • Coordinate deliverables accurately and in a timely manner
  • Manage vendor contracts and negotiations in collaboration with procurement

QUALIFICATIONS

 Media Technology & Leadership:

  • Previous experience working with stakeholders of various backgrounds and varying levels of experience with the media agency environment
  • Minimum of 12 years’ experience managing and implementing media planning/ buying software in a fast-paced agency environment or related experience
  • 12-15 years Project Management experience. Capable of independently managing projects of appropriate scale.  
  • Experience in generating and maintaining process documentation
  • Prior experience working with third party media technology suppliers (e.g. Mediaocean)
  • Thorough understanding of media finance workflows
  • Experience in team management and conducting performance reviews.
