The Sr. Strategist, Brand Experience Strategy will have strategy responsibilities on Diageo Brand Activations working closely with the Director, Experience Strategy and within the Experiences group of Dentsu Creative. The Experiences group of Dentsu Creative is an innovative, collaborative, strategic team which combines and accelerates the expertise of all things “experience” - experiential and IRL experience (previously MKTG), experience/product /innovation (previously Isobar) as well as brand & systems design (previously Character).   

This role – a Sr. Strategist, Brand Experience Strategy - is an emerging role the focuses on the intersection of culture, brand, consumer and category in order to arrive at brand solutions that manifest as experiences (IRL, URL and the connective tissue in between). You should be interested in staying abreast of how culture is shaping consumer behaviors, habits, and expectations for how brands engage consumers within and beyond our category. You should be driven to uncover how brands can add value for people – from addressing a paint point along the consumer journey to helping a people achieve something in their lives to creating change in the world at large – this person should have a passion for seeking meaningful ways for the brand to make a difference in peoples’ lives. Core to this role is bringing a passion for and expertise in strategy for connected experiences to a (huge) IRL activation-driven account, as it evolves to delivering experiences that span across physical and digital touchpoints.   

You will author the strategy/creative briefs for conceptual experiential efforts in close partnership with creatives, tech, innovation and opportunities throughout the strategy, ideation and development process.   

·       Partner externally with clients and internally with creative, tech, innovation and account management/PMs throughout the development of experience strategies/briefs and how they manifest via creative and production  

·       Stay up to speed on and inspire the team with great connected experience work that’s coming from brands and how that’s evolving to meet consumer/cultural expectations  

·       Contribute to how the agency thinks about experience strategy – what frameworks we leverage, how we guide clients 

·       Build strong relationships internally and with clients in order to be a dot connector for experience strategy related work from other aspects of Dentsu (with CXM, media, etc.)  

·       Have a POV on what’s next for experiences and how consumers + brands engage, share future-focused POVs with the team and clients, lead trend work or work sessions, when applicable  

·       Manage and mentor future direct reports, managing their projects on a day-to-day process, pushing their thinking to the next level and helping them develop their career at Dentsu  

·       May have an opportunity to contribute to pitch efforts as a part of the connected experiences practice, both for new business and organic growth 

Expected Outcomes: 

Business Growth: Responsible for helping to generate new organic growth opportunities on existing clients, specifically - strengthening our role as a strategic partner to Diageo clients.   

Capability Growth: Responsible for the overall quality of the agency’s strategic and creative product in partnership with the creative team on the businesses they oversee 

Talent Growth: Responsible for mentoring diverse strategic thinkers focused on creating growth opportunities for our clients and the agency.  

Culture Growth: Demonstrates and fosters a collaborative work environment in which ideas flourish and are shared 

Qualifications: 

·       5+ years Strategic Planning experience with an experience bend (at a digital, experiential, data agency or client side digital)  

·       You have an ability to consume massive amounts of research and develop sharp insights from consumer research sources like Kantar, Brandwatch, Neilsen, Simmons MRI, etc.  

·       An understanding of, and experience in, experiential/IRL experience strategy  

·       A doer, leads by example. You put pen to paper, lean into client relationships, and create new opportunities. You have a bias toward action, are solutions oriented, and have the ability to formulate a plan of attack and inspire others. 

·       You are generative and flexible thinkers with the ability to create net new thinking that inspires our clients, the agency and their teams.  

·       You have strong strategic story-telling and story-selling skills and the ability to develop a net new narratives 

·       You are adaptive and responsive to feedback, changing conditions and “Great on their feet" with an ability to solve in the present.  

·       You are collaborative and open partners to creative and account leadership and indispensable, strategic consigliore to our client organizations.  

·       You relish the challenge of providing fresh new thinking that makes our work better.  

·       You are the best combination of smart, nice and real. 

Nice to Haves: 

·       Knowledge of unified data customer platforms and how they power personalized experiences 

·       Experience participating in and leading elements of ideation workshops 

·       Understanding of the emerging opportunities for brands in the metaverse and other fully virtual experiences 

·       Experience with adapting national strategies to the regional and hyper-local level 

·       Prior work examples in the form of case studies are appreciated but not required

The anticipated salary range for this position is $78,000 - $121,500.   Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications, and geography.
