Job Description

The VP, Paid Search serves as the senior leader of a designated client portfolio (or large, key account) within the Paid Search scaled service line. While the VP, Paid Search may not have direct staffing allocation on all the client accounts within their assigned portfolio, this senior leader serves as a highly proficient collaborator, motivator and thought leader who leads a team of directors and people managers across our best-in-class search programs.

As a member of the denstu Media Paid Search Leadership team, this is a key role that reports directly to the SVP, Head of Paid Search and requires active involvement in shaping & influencing the broader agency US Search offering. The VP, Paid Search is a talented media trailblazer with a proven track record of owning paid search strategy and execution from end-to-end, excels at improving operational efficiencies and team workflow, is skilled at developing team members and is capable of creating positive, meaningful change.

To effectively support the needs of our clients and teams, this leader provides strategic direction and oversight for their assigned portfolio, which includes (but is not limited to): adherence to search fundamentals and best practice, challenging the status quo with innovative & progressive solutions, facilitating collaboration and knowledge-sharing between teams, evangelization of cultural priorities, and coaching & mentoring of next-level leaders. This individual demonstrates assertiveness and a solutions-oriented mindset when facing obstacles or challenges.  Above all else, the VP, Paid Search is responsible for fostering a collaborative team-first environment that aligns closely with our core values.

Capability Leadership

  • Partners closely with Head of Paid Search and the Paid Search Senior Leadership team to develop, implement and evangelize the dentsu Media paid search strategy & offering
  • Consistently demonstrates a focus on improving process and workflow, including (but not limited to) task automation, tool adoption, utilization of globally sourced resources, etc.
  • Builds & maintains relationship with senior-level agency partners (Google, Microsoft, etc.) to facilitate training, education, and other miscellaneous support needs on behalf of assigned clients and teams
  • Contributes and/or leads business development efforts when required

People/Resource Management

  •  Responsible for all talent, staffing & resourcing needs within designated portfolio, which includes maintaining a master-level view of staffing plans/allocations, opening & closing of job requisitions, coordinating with recruiting and hiring managers, establishing fair and relevant evaluation/interview protocols, and monitoring employee retention/talent needs (i.e. rotations, promotions)
  • Works closely with Paid Search Leadership to align individual aspirations with client/team needs. Includes actively exploring internal mobility opportunities, promotions into open roles, etc.
  • Active, hands-on management, coaching and mentorship of direct reports (as well as dotted lines). Accountable for fostering a positive team culture and implementing our shared values of Appreciation, Accountability, Inclusivity and Ingenuity

Client Excellence

  • For client accounts in which the Portfolio Owner includes direct allocation, consistently demonstrate an in-depth knowledge & familiarity of all aspects of their client’s business and industry, including strategic priorities, performance results, competitive factors, and emerging opportunities/trends.
  • For client accounts in which the Portfolio Owner does not include direct allocation, the Portfolio Owner is expected to partner closely with the respective Business/Client Leaders and senior-most search leadership to keep a pulse on all team & employee relations, monitor client performance, contribute to thought-leadership efforts, and maintain visibility into client-level financial/margin performance.
  • Develops strong relationship with key client contacts (where direct staffing allocations are present), with an emphasis on client satisfaction, retention, and organic growth.

Qualifications

Role Qualifications

  •  10+ years of digital and Paid Search marketing experience in a client-focused role
  • Minimum of 5+ years managing a team of employees
  • Possesses deep subject matter expertise in Paid Search, as well as a strong understanding of complementary media channels including product listing ads/shopping, programmatic, display, paid social, retail media, and others
  • Proven track record of driving strong performance results, as well as an ability to overcome challenges and/or headwinds
  • Able to navigate and speak to the complexities of the digital media landscape across disciplines, without necessarily needing to be an expert in each discipline. Is relied upon to confidently and proactively speak to the value and when to apply each
  • Drives thought leadership and POVs; can inspire curiosity that drives innovation and positive, meaningful change
  • Persuasive storyteller and presenter. Must demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills; including the ability to present to VP and C-level executives at Fortune 500 companies
  • Comfortable developing and delivering strategic presentations, able to think on one’s feet, and serve as a dynamic subject-matter expert for C-level clients
  • Generates client confidence as a trusted advisor by actively listening and understanding challenges and or roadblocks and speaking with authority on how we will address them.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $113,000-$174,500.  Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications, and geography. Additionally, this position is eligible for discretionary incentive compensation. The company’s incentive compensation plan is subject to change. A range of medical, dental, vision, 401(k) matching, paid time off, and/or other benefits also are available.
