Job Description

The Senior Manager, Network Audio Investment oversees the end-to-end activation of national audio buys for assigned clients with expenditures over $10MM.  In addition to terrestrial radio, digital audio and podcasting activations may also be included in role dependent on account structure. The Senior Manager oversees negotiations and tracks performance to ensure quality and that buys meet client expectations.    

Media Buying and Execution:

  • Develop cpms/cpps for upfront and scatter activity
  • Develop RFP and guidelines based on agency and account parameters
  • Leads planning and client communications along with Associate Director
  • Develops negotiations strategies with Associate Director/Director
  • Complete upfront and scatter negotiations for assigned clients
  • Confirm that all buy parameters have been met before submitting buy to the Account group by due date
  • Complete client decks and presentations
  • Track the resolution of discrepancies to meet billing deadlines
  • Responsible for delivering rerates to clients
  • Manage and track client budgets and track delivery of ADU weight
  •  Responsible for monitoring and achieving client productivity targets
  • Responsible for quality and accuracy of completed projects 

Client, Vendor & Internal Relationships:

  • Liaison between buying group and planning group teams
  • Lead calls with planning teams/clients
  • Support and implement tools initiated by Group Director
  • Establishes and maintains business relationships with rep and vendor management
  • Represent dentsu within industry (attending industry functions, joining committees)
  • Establishes and maintains interdepartmental relationships on behalf of Network Team
  • Represent network buying expertise internally and externally
  • Grow business opportunities with current clients
  • Work in tandem with Associate Director/ Director to train, motivate, develop and lead team
  • Work with management team to monitor workload, account assignments and the day-to-day operations of the team
  • Oversee and mentor Associates and Senior Associates

Strategic Thinking & Leadership:

  • Ability to develop negotiation strategies
  • Works closely with planning teams in developing client strategy.
  •  Supervise the creation of informed media strategies, promotional opportunities, beta tests & innovation for client
  • Works with Director level to create marketplace updates, and presentations for final recommendations
  • Creative thinking and problem solving as well as intervention when necessary
  • Keeps current with market research (industry periodicals, email newsletters, websites)
  • Manage teams staffing needs (hiring, promotions, performance reviews and training)
  • Ensure team is properly trained on all dentsu spot buying tools – Media Ocean, HudsonMX, WorkDay, Dynamics etc.)
  • Provide and/or guide strategic input for all buys internally and externally
  • Ensure key information is provided to team regarding client, vendor, or system issues
  • Assists dentsu leadership with evaluation of new tools and technologies
  • Construct and deliver accurate, honest, and timely performance management & audit documents 

Communications Skills:

  • Establish and maintain communications process with clients, media teams, etc. for each piece of business within the team
  • Express oneself clearly and concisely in oral communications
  • Write in a clear, compelling, and concise manner
  • Organize ideas and information logically and sequentially
  • Develop media presentation materials that are clear, compelling, and persuasive
  • Adapt communication style to relevant audience
  • Link communication to audience’s concerns and perspectives
  • Lead client presentations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree(preferred)
  •  5-7 years industry experience
  • Experience activating digital audio and podcasting campaigns
  • Experience leading a team
  • Proven experience in negotiation
  • Strong math and analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills- both oral and written
  • Act 1 Software proficiency
  • Advanced computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience working in Media Ocean Spotbuy toolkit, Prisma, Hudson

The anticipated salary range for this position is $68,000-$106,000. Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications, and geography.  A range of medical, dental, vision, 401(k) matching, paid time off, and/or other benefits also are available.
