Dentsu International (“DI”) Canada is looking for an experienced corporate Law Clerk preferably with experience in media and advertising, to join our network and work enthusiastically in a bold, creative, dynamic, and constantly-evolving business. The individual hired for this position will report to the General Counsel, Canada, and will be an integral part of a small but highly-engaged Canadian Legal & Compliance team within the broader network of the DI Americas and Global Legal and Compliance teams.

Job Description

As Canada’s Law Clerk, you will provide a high level of service to all internal clients by providing corporate, legal and legal project management support to all DI Canada agencies, under the supervision of the Canadian General Counsel, including:

  • Maintain and update (in conjunction with external counsel) corporate documents and resolutions, and manage, track and file various corporate registrations (including extra-provincial and regulatory registrations)
  • Manage and help improve the company’s legal documents management systems and processes
  • Support the business in reviewing and preparing submissions for RFPs/RFQs, and assisting with subsequent client intake and management
  • Draft and review non-disclosure agreements and other templated agreements
  • Provide project management oversight for various projects for the Canadian and regional/global Legal & Compliance teams
  • Collaborate with local, regional, and global functions (e.g. Finance, Legal & Compliance, Social Impact, etc.) and work on diverse local and global internal initiatives
  • Provide administrative support, including calendar and file management and document preparation, preparing agendas, meeting minutes, spreadsheets, etc. as required
  • Liaise with lawyers, outside counsel, and the business as directed by the General Counsel, Canada

Qualifications

  • University degree or college diploma or completion of the Institute of Law Clerks of Ontario certification
  • 2+ years’ relevant experience working in the legal department of a large corporation or law firm, with experience in an international corporation as an asset
  • Experience managing and preparing corporate records and regulatory filings (minutes, resolutions, annual returns, filings, etc.)
  • Demonstrated time management, organization and prioritization skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and projects and meet deadlines
  • Flexibility and willingness to adapt and grow with the business
  • Advanced computer skills and strong working knowledge of MS PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
  • Familiarity with general marketing law principles and related intellectual property and compliance issues is an asset
  • Experience and/or familiarity with general commercial agreements is an asset
  • English-French bilingualism is a significant asset
