Company Description

Carat is looking for an Account Director to add to their growing team. The Account Director’s role is managerial, but also one of agency leadership. This individual may own a planning group and their responsibility may extend from complete oversight of assigned clients, to staff management and development. This person sets the working style for the group and is responsible for the media work and planning operations for assigned accounts across multiple media channels. The Account Director also provides strategic leadership and understands all aspects of their client’s business.

Job Description

  • Responsible for total management of an assigned client’s business (both traditional and digital) throughout the entire strategic, planning and implementation process
  • Develop a tight partnership with all agency service line leads to ensure proper team resource management and adherence to contract terms
  • Accountable for best-in-class media planning, including innovative thinking and flawless execution
  • Lead the process of strategic media planning/execution and serve as a mentor for other team members
  • Demonstrate the ability to utilize resources to help guide the client’s marketing goals in their respective markets (syndicated, proprietary, analyst data)
  • In combination with the Network’s trading team, provide oversight and stewardship of all media placements
  • Collaborate with Group Account Director in the creation and negotiation of yearly client contracts and supplemental proposals and manage account profitability
  • Accurately represent the client’s point of view when reviewing work, leverage this perspective when providing feedback to the team and presenting to the client
  • Provide and/or guide strategic input for all plans internally and externally
  • Ensure key information is provided to the team regarding client issues, internal agency issues, changes in account status, etc.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 6+ years' of planning experience which include progressive client management experience is key for success in this role.  
  • Experienced integrated communications planning leader required
  • Strong strategic digital leadership skills essential
  • While digital is a fundamental and leading part of this role, the candidate must have a full understanding of integrated communications
  • Strategic thinking ability with balanced analytical and creative approach to tactical planning
  • Capable of expressing oneself clearly and concisely in written & in-person communications
  • Proven leadership skills and management experience
  • Experience successfully bringing together people from different disciplines, internal and external to achieve desired outcomes
  • Commitment to delivering creative solutions, and the ability to align team members behind creative solutions
  • High-level proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook
