Job Description

The Senior Broadcast buyer oversees the buying and implementation process for AV Investment, on behalf of the Investment Manager. This requires working very close with the wider Investment Arm, the Media Brand teams and Traffic team. This role is critical to ensuring that the overall corporate investment direction is attained through the development and execution of buys according to Amplifi processes and client deliverables. The Senior Broadcast buyer is also accountable for the operational excellence (timeliness and accuracy) across the media billing payable process. Primary responsibilities will be to work with the Investment Planners in the execution of day-to-day tasks for assigned accounts and ensure the quality of buy and process is implemented for all AV campaigns. The Senior Broadcast buyer will also oversee the development and accurate deliverables of Media Assistants, ensuring excellence throughout the course of each campaign, and that the integrity of work continues through the course of campaigns for each client.

  • Accountable for the accuracy of billing system (Adtraq) through campaign set up, goal entry, maintenance and reconciliation, respecting client/campaign budgets
  • Utilize tools to develop the best possible executional strategy, rationale and buy structure to deliver on campaign KPIs
  • Works with team Manager to understand market dynamics (pricing, executional opportunities) and strengthen vendor relationships
  • Use automated processes at all times to minimize manual data transfer (minimizing risk)
  • Works with Investment Planners to ensure consistent delivery of buy structures that encompass the best environments for each client’s target audience, while also maximizing value and efficiency
  • Works with Media Brand teams to ensure timely delivery of assets needed for special executions
  • Works with trafficking teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and instructions to stations
  • Works with team leadership to prepare reporting documentation for Media Brands, Clients demonstrating the strategy and rationale executed to deliver campaign KPIs
  • Works with Media Brand teams to maintain media budgets and changes to media plan post negotiation
  • Ensures that preemption/makegood activity is analyzed by Investment Planners to ensure value delivery is enhanced wherever possible
  • Works with Investment Planner and Media Assistants to ensure discrepancy completion before 90 days past month aired
  • Ensures open payables for each month are monitored and that any payable discrepancies are resolved to ensure accurate campaign posting
  • Oversees the actualizes each campaign, including the negotiation of compensation for use on future campaigns
  • Delivers post campaign reporting to Media Brand, client detailing campaign actuals, highlights and compensation recommendations
  • Understands the impact of under delivering stations/properties, and uses this learning to influence and optimize future buy structures and executions

Client & Internal Relationships:

  • Oversees the day-to-day Media Brand interaction as far as buy details are concerned (rates/costs, deadlines for asset delivery, launch timeline, etc.)
  • Manages expectations of Investment arm, Media Brands and deliverables - critically defend/rationalize vendor/property selection to internal stakeholders
  • Works closely with the Media Brand throughout activation process to maintain performance and resolves any issues
  • Functions well in high-pressure situations, with an ability to stay calm and collected and deliver efficient solutions
  • Leads vendor relationships for their key accounts
  • Builds positive relationships with internal and external teams and sets a good example for their peers
  • Responsible for working with Manager to develop and oversee junior staff- manage time, assure projects are completed on time and adhered to (within) budget – strong ability to delegate
  • Provides guidance to team members to nurture and promote a healthy team environment

  • Assesses problems and concerns in a systematic, logical and rational manner
  • Constantly curious and participates in face-to-face vendor meetings
  • Keeps up with the latest trends in AV media
  • Proactively resolve issues, knows when and who to escalate to
  • Aptitude for priority management where it concerns managing multiple deliverables/work streams
  • Coaches planners on how to find strategic ways to improve and optimize the media buy and campaign performance to meet client KPIs
  • Informs Manager of new opportunities or challenges that deviate from corporate investment direction

Communications Skills:

  • Expresses oneself clearly and concisely in oral and written communications
  • Ability to organize ideas and present back information logically and sequentially
  • Assists in the development of media presentations and tactical POVs
  • Ensures key information is provided to the team regarding client issues and/or internal agency issues as they arise

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 4-5 years of experience, focused on AV investment
  • Proficient with numbers, budgeting and excel data entry tasks
  • Strong negotiation and people skills
  • Strong prioritization skills, with an expert ability to manage one’s time for optimal output
  • Strong analytical skills, ability to relate results to client business objectives
  • Mid-level to Advanced computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
