Job Description

This Integrated Strategy Director would primarily have responsibilities over the American Express global brand and advertising.  

The ISD will serve as the day-to-day strategic lead across the business and report to the EVP, Integrated Strategy overall. The ISD will be able to not only develop, but also discern big ideas and aid in their growth and development. Will display radical collaboration with fellow strategists, creative and account teams. Will be able to demonstrate and foster an inclusive environment in which ideas flourish. Contributes to the strategy department and its culture and by taking an active role in activities necessary to ensure its success. Demonstrates the ability to mentor direct reports, in addition to helping manage their projects on a day-to-day basis and motivate them to push their thinking to the next level. Oversees and suggests enhancements to the career development of their direct reports.

Business Growth: Responsible for helping to generate new organic growth opportunities on existing clients.  

Capability Growth: Responsible for the overall quality of the agency’s strategic and creative product in partnership with the creative team on the businesses they oversee. 

Talent Growth: Responsible for mentoring diverse strategic thinkers focused on creating growth opportunities for our clients and the agency.  

Culture Growth: Demonstrates and fosters a collaborative work environment in which ideas flourish and are shared 

Qualifications

  • 7+ years Strategic Planning experience 
  • A doer, leads by example. They put pen to paper, lean into client relationships, and create new opportunities. They have a bias toward action, are solutions oriented, and have the ability to formulate a plan of attack and inspire others. 
  • They are generative and flexible thinkers with the ability to create net new thinking that inspires our clients, the agency, and their teams.  
  • They have strong strategic story-telling and story-selling skills and the ability to develop a net new narratives, our signature competency. 
  • They are adaptive and responsive to feedback, changing conditions and “great on their feet" with an ability to solve in the present.  
  • They are collaborative and open partners to creative and account leadership and indispensable, strategic consigliore to our client organizations.  
  • They relish the challenge of providing fresh new thinking that makes our creative work better.
