Job Description

Senior Visual Designer | General Motors

** Portfolio required**

Join our terrific Detroit based team working at the top of innovation for automotive in-market advertising. You will work as a Visual Designer with our client, General Motors, focused on in-market OLA online advertising for all four of the GM brands. The Senior Visual Designer reports directly to the Art Director, Associate Creative Director and/or Creative Director on the account and will receive direct guidance as to what they are responsible for. You work closely with other Visual Designers and collaborate on designs for reviews and client deliverables. You work very closely with the User Experience and Strategy teams to brainstorm, identify and design out areas of optimization.

As a designer on the GM account, you will be responsible for understanding the style and targeted direction of each GM brand. On a daily basis, you will work closely with copywriters on each project to provide In-Market comps and assets to the production team within JIRA. Designers must also work alongside the copy and development teams to develop new concepts that meet client requests.

  • Use approved images from Asset Central or provided by CAOR
  • Use copy from copywriter
  • Name files according to naming convention
  • Place files on the R-drive
  • Work with Developers on functionality and animation concepts
  • QA units once they are approved

The team:

The GM team is mostly based out of the Detroit office. It is a small but mighty team and is fun, gritty and down to earth.

Day to day:

  • Designing and cutting assets for in-market OLA banner ads
  • Concepting for innovative in-market OLA
  • Mocking up concepts in photoshop or XD

 

Qualifications

Required experience:

  • Experienced in visual design and art direction for web and mobile
  • Experienced in design systems
  • Able to design within the parameters of existing styles and design guidelines
  • good communication skills and the ability to present design decisions and rationale internally and externally
  • mindful of accessibility
  • attention to detail
