Job Description

US Media comprises several network brands of dentsu that includes Carat, iProspect, Amplifi, Posterscope, Dx, and M1. dentsu is Innovating the Way Brands Are Built for its clients through its best-in-class expertise and capabilities in media, digital and creative communications services.

The Accounting Manager will support the Controller in implementing financial controls, drive an appropriate compliance environment, and have a solid knowledge of accounting principles. This role will require on-going collaboration with the US media business unit CFOs and related teams including Commercial Finance, Operational Finance, and dentsu Corporate.

Reports to the US Media Financial Controller.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Month End Close & Reporting– Manage and deliver a timely and efficient close process to achieve accurate financials for management decision making and planning.
  • Financial Statement Analysis – Supervise and review Income Statement & Balance Sheet accounts. Interpret the meaning of accounting results and advise management by preparing appropriate variance commentaries.
  • Controls Compliance – ensure control & governance requirements are achieved, including adherence to dentsu policies; develop best practices and leverage expertise/knowledge across dentsu.
  • Operational Finance Liaison – point person managing the relationships (with Media Bill Pay shared services based in Detroit and R2R, OTC, P2P shared services based in India), development of/adherence to job requirements/SLAs, escalation, continuous process improvement, and audit coordination.
  • Process Development – Drive process improvement to shorten the close cycle by implementing controls and procedures to support financial system & operational processes. Capable of pioneering and leading change.

Qualifications

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis. No sponsorship is available for this position.

Experience/knowledge required:

  • Extensive experience of IFRS and GAAP/US accounting standards
  • Strong familiarity with financial systems and financial reporting (D365 and BPC experience a plus)
  • Awareness of the local market media and production systems
  • Advanced user of Excel/Word/Powerpoint
  • Experience in successful collaboration between finance and non-finance people
  • Experience in driving change, delivering Operational Excellence and embedding Lean operating principles into finance operations
  • 5-7 years of experience operating in a fast-moving business environment with diverse stakeholder communities and exposure to media / advertising industry
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting is required
