Job Description

The Senior Associate, Digital/Print Investment  is the day-to-day focal point to the account.  They understand the client’s overall business and marketing objectives, and are the steward of tactical negotiations, buying and implementation process, providing mid-level strategic recommendations to the senior media team and/or client. 

Media Buying and Execution:

  • Contribute to the negotiation process with site/print vendors, as led by Supervisor & Director, based on individual Brand needs (as defined by Brief, DBA/BA) and campaign objectives.
  • Serve as project manager for assigned division(s)
  • Manage Associate
  • Monitoring profit margins and campaign performance
  • Understand the entire digital media landscape to drive innovation throughout the campaign
  • Lead publisher relationships including contracts, NDAs, T&Cs, contact information, communication, and updated rates
  • Serve as the point of contact for the assigned Subject Matter Expert
  • Create Cross Divisional POV development as needed
  • Work with planning and Insights team to conduct market research and compile information for media plans
  • RFP sites and to ensure that campaigns are running according to plans
  • Work with analytics & planning team on media objectives to determine campaign KPI’s and optimization strategy/execution
  • Evaluate all media proposals for efficiencies and effectiveness
  • Work in media buying system to ensure all data points have been finalized for final contract
  • Work with Digital Operations to confirm all tracking and restrictions
  • Help facilitate the team in upfront and on-going negotiations with digital/print vendors
  • Ensure constant communication between Planning and Investment team
  • Develop and maintain timelines for all projects
  • Balance, prioritize and properly assign work associated with multiple, concurrent projects
  • Act as a final resource for all inventory, billing, and invoice discrepancies
  • Keep abreast of all invoices, billing, and delivery issues; know when to escalate discrepancies to Supervisor/Director
  • Compiles reports of competitive market/media information for each brand/category
  • Manage added value / merchandising components of media buys
  • Meet with media reps and coordinate with other Carat specialty units as required
  • Work with team leads to define innovative areas and devise new opportunities
  • Work with team leads to create negotiation strategies and execute the actual negotiation of yearly and on-going contracts and supplemental proposals

Client & Internal Relationships:

  • May manage day-to-day with planning leads
  • May manage expectations of planning on timing and deliverables
  • Assist Supervisor in growing business opportunities within current clients
  • Keeps up with the latest trends in media
  • May be responsible for informing planning team/client of new opportunities or issues
  • Participates and leads, if appropriate, face to face vendor meetings
  • Builds positive relationships with internal and external teams and sets good example for Associate level

Strategic Thinking & Leadership:

  • Works with management team (Supervisor/Director) to develop strategies for media buys
  • Shares new and relevant advertising opportunities in written and verbal form to the media department
  • Strategizes ways to use media dollars most effectively to the greatest benefit for our clients
  • Assess problems and concerns in a systematic, logical, and rational manner
  • Proactively resolve issues, know when to and to whom to escalate
  • Provide guidance to team members nurture/promote team environment
  • Assist in the training of junior team members
  • May be responsible for working with Supervisor to develop and oversee junior staff- manage time, assure projects are completed on time and adhered to (within) budget
  • May be responsible for constructing and delivering accurate, honest, and timely performance management documents
  • Capable of managing multiple deliverables and ability to seamlessly transition among them

Communications Skills:

  • Expresses oneself clearly and concisely in oral communications
  • Writes in a clear, compelling, and concise manner
  • Organizes ideas and information logically and sequentially
  • Assists in the development of media presentations and tactical POVs, as needed
  • Develop client reports that are clear, compelling, and persuasive
  • Ensure key information is provided to team regarding client issues, internal agency issues, changes in account status, etc.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 2-5 years of media experience
  • Participation in at least one full planning cycle and development/implementation of at least two media plans
  • Thorough understanding of the media process, media department and inter-department relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to generate and present well-considered ideas and solutions
  • Thrives in a fast pace, constantly changing environment; can adapt plans due to changes in client objectives, priorities or budgets while minimizing impact on project momentum
  • Strong analytical skills, ability to relate results to client business objectives
  • Balanced ability to perform analytically and creatively
  • Media vendor negotiation experience
  • Advanced computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) plus if proficient in Prisma / Media Ocean
