Job Description

Accounting

  • Prepare monthly revenue recognition file including all revenue accruals; exercise professional judgement to assess the reasonability of the year-to-date accruals based on performance delivery per Dentsu Global Policy and IFRS standards
  • Review non-salary related operating expenses, determine monthly accruals, and assess the appropriateness of reversing prior month accruals
  • Review monthly salary and salary related expenses against the payroll files based on the month-over-month headcount movements
  • Review intercompany recharge schedules and resolve both domestic and foreign intercompany discrepancies as escalated by Finance outsource team
  • Review first pass reporting and analytics as prepared by Finance outsource team and identify any additional monthly accruals needed
  • Review Finance outsourcing team workflow as well as journal entry preparations to ensure accuracy and adherence to month-end timeline

Reporting

  • Responsible for providing final P&L’s and Balance Sheets with full ownership as per required deadlines for management review and approval
  • Monitor all reporting deliverables (monthly actuals & forecasts, YE and QE supplementary packs, IT additional information requests) and ensure timely submission in line with deadlines.
  • Review month-end templates, upload working files to the financial reporting software (SAP) by the required deadline and ensure that all workflow logic tests are accurately cleared
  • Provide support to FP&A team in relation to budget, forecast and client reporting deliverables
  • Prepare corporate reporting and statutory reporting requirements

Analysis

  • Complete monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations along with resolving outstanding items in a timely manner. Escalate any issue to Management for resolution
  • Participate in variance analysis, analytics and commentary on financial results vs forecast and current period actuals vs prior period actuals
  • Prepare daily cash positions, review monthly bank reconciliations for the brands’ foreign and domestic bank accounts, and escalate any unresolved reconciling items to Manager as appropriate
  • Prepare the Balance Sheet forecast template to estimate the changes in future working capital accounts (AR, AP, Accrued/Deferred Income, WIP, and etc) to assist the treasury team with working capital monitoring
  • Identify areas of opportunities for process improvements and consult with Management to develop appropriate amendments. Implement the agreed-upon process improvements
  • Assist with government tax audits; internal/external financial audits
  • Other ad-hoc projects;

Client & Internal Relationships:

  • Collaborate in preparing and delivering work to colleagues in other Finance pillars, business directors and external clients
  • Respond to requests for information quickly and accurately
  • Engage with all work-related contacts in a professional and respectful manner
  • Establish strong internal relationships with agency personnel

  • Assess problems and concerns in a systematic, logical and rational manner
  • Foster an analytical mindset to challenge the status quo, and innovate efficient and effective process with management to improve the quality of financial reporting
  • Proactively resolve issues, know when to and to whom to escalate
  • Provide guidance to junior team members and nurture/promote team environment
  • Assist in constructing and delivering accurate, honest and timely performance management documents
  • Capable of managing multiple deliverables and ability to seamlessly transition among them
  • Develop a strong understanding of the Business Units activities under the scope of ownership

 

Qualifications

  • University Degree in business administration, finance or accounting
  • Big 4 accounting firm experience is a strong plus
  • 3+ years in a similar experience from a media agency or related field, but not a must
  • CPA certification or close to completion
  • Thorough understanding of the financial process and IFRS accounting standards, Balance Sheet reconciliation and risk analysis
  • Knowledge of general accounting practices and principles
  • Thrive in a fast pace, constantly changing environment
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills
  • Previous experience using ADTRAQ, EAS, Dynamics and SAP, is an asset
