Job Description
Public affairs firm is currently seeking to fill the position of Account Manager, Public Relations in their Client Services division. Job responsibilities include: managing tasks on several client projects concurrently, interacting with internal client services teams on a daily basis, supporting the team with research, tracking and compiling media clips and summaries. The candidate must possess solid written and verbal communication skills and have some experience developing communications plans, press materials, pitches, op-eds and blog postings. Candidate should be organized, interested in press and public policy issues, and ready to hit the ground running as part of a large and fast-moving team. The position is based in Washington, DC. Up to two years experience preferred.
- Manages daily media/press tasks on several client projects concurrently
- Operates within team environment, juggling multiple priorities
- Is organized and exhibits critical attention to detail
- Coordinates with client team to prepare for and participate in high-level meetings
- Demonstrates interest in a variety of public policy issues including: health care, education, technology, and the environment.
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment
- Communicates effectively and on a frequent basis with colleagues, is responsive
- Executes assignments within deadline and adheres to quality standards
- Some travel could be required
- Proficiency in social networking tools is preferred
Qualifications
The ideal candidate would possess the following skills:
- Deep interest in press and media relations
- Agency, campaign and/or Capitol Hill press experience preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Flexibility to work with many different personalities
- Creative thinker that takes direction well
- Thrives on a challenge
- Deadline driven
- Proficient in MS Office
- Naturally inquisitive, enjoys learning new things and accepts new challenges readily
