Role: Solaris Administrator

Location: NYC

Key Accountabilities:

  • Identifies and troubleshoots problems.
  • Responds to inquiries in development, testing, and production environments, including file servers, application servers, and database servers.
  • Ensures availability and integrity of servers and services with techniques such as performance tuning and system monitoring.
  • Manages all upgrades and backups.
  • Identifies opportunities within current environment for simplification/automation of tasks and devises and recommends solutions.
  • Designs, develops and documents custom scripts and tools to simplify and automate tasks.
  • Identifies when Upgrades software upgrades and patches software are needed to ensure servers are capable of meeting increased demand; determines, recommends and implements best solution.
  • Also Identifies latest vulnerabilities and determines and implements appropriate patch for server software.
  • 24/7 on call support - handling complex technical issues.
  • Reviews capacity planning and performance monitoring of the server application and hardware; makes recommendations for changes/enhancements needed to ensure performance levels meet expectations.
  • Researches and evaluates new technologies.
  • Make recommendations for changes enhancements based on research, including developing design/technical proposals.
  • Research new technologies and present recommendations and justifications on major hardware and software purchases.
