Job Description
Crown is at the forefront of ushering in aviation’s new frontier of crewed and uncrewed aircraft, and the aviation systems and infrastructure supporting them. Our analytic rigor and real-world perspectives are reflected in contributions to challenging programs with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), state departments of transportation, and commercial clients.
We are seeking a Junior Software Engineer to support the development of an advanced air mobility (AAM) real-time human-in-the-loop (HITL) simulation platform. The successful candidate will support the simulation front end interface design and implementation working closely with the systems engineering and back end development teams. They may also support other software development initiatives at Crown as well as provide other general analyst project support.
Work may be performed remotely or at Crown HQ in Arlington, VA.
Qualifications
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or other relevant technical discipline
- Experienced in user interface (UI) design principles and software implementation
- Experience with JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
- Ability to effectively work within a small, dynamic team by taking initial guidance, independently producing functioning software, and responding to feedback
Responsibilities
- Work with aerospace research analyst to design user interface
- Develop front end user interfaces using HTML, JavaScript, and CSS
- Maintain Amazon Web Service (AWS) servers and software
- Assist in running real-time HITL simulation testing
- Participate in technical team meetings and communicate design solutions
- Document designs and software
Desirable Skills
- Modeling and simulation experience in MatLab and Simulink
- Configuration management experience with Git, Confluence, and Jira
- Familiarity with NodeJS
- Familiarity with aerospace systems and the aviation industry
- Ability/interest in analysis and consulting project support beyond software engineering
