Job Description

Crown's Fiber Optic Communications & Control Solutions (FOTS) team includes site surveying, development of site infrastructure documentation, RCDD engineering designs, and electronics installations. 

We are seeking a Fiber Optics System Technician which requires experience in outside plants work. Duties include documentation of existing FAA communication, power and control cables for air traffic control to provide fiber optics design for individual system segments or an entire airport loop. This position is 100% travel. No relocation required.

Crew job assignments require travel to airports nationwide, mostly outdoors, and work hours are dependent upon airport operational access. The role may be physically demanding.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Airport cable infrastructure documentation
  • Removal of existing cabling
  • Construction of new duct banks
  • Manhole installation
  • Directional boring
  • Fiber cable installations, terminations, and fiber splicing
  • Fiber electronics installations

Qualifications

  • 2-4+ years of experience in construction, electronics, and/or telecommunications
  • Experience preferred in installation and integration of FAA communication equipment/systems
  • Basic understanding in the use of manual and power tools
  • Must be able to climb down into manholes 4 feet deep or greater
  • FOTS Team will work in aircraft movement areas, runway and taxi way safety areas, day and night
  • Ability to pass TSA security requirements at each airport and pass vehicle driving requirements in active airport environments
  • Ability to learn how to provide precise communications between air traffic control, airport operational authorities and local FAA
