Job Description

The Senior Electronic Security Technician performs a variety of in-depth technical functions required in the installation of security equipment and systems. The Senior Electronic Security Technician:

  • Is involved in installation, troubleshooting, wiring, and testing of electronic security equipment.
  • Prepares drawings documenting configuration changes at each site.
  • Prepares site installation and test reports.
  • Configures computers, communications devices, and peripheral equipment.

Qualifications

  • An Associates degree or equivalent from a technical institute, college, or university. 
    • An industry recognized apprentice craft training program may be substituted for the formal education requirement.
  • Eight (8) years of experience in installation, troubleshooting, wiring, and testing of complex electronics security equipment is required.
    • The eight (8) years of experience includes five (5) years working experience on installation, troubleshooting, wiring, and testing of complex electronics security equipment and an additional two (2) years of specialized experience with the specific security systems installed; i.e., card readers, cameras, monitors, access control systems, etc.
  • Knowledge of basic and advanced electrical and electronic principles as they pertain to security systems and equipment installed at facilities.
  • Ability to understand and follow technical guidance such as circuitry and layouts.
  • Ability to perform installation of equipment (both hardware and software).
  • Ability to configure computers, communications devices and peripheral equipment.
  • Ability to independently assess and resolve security system problems.
  • Must be able to pass background check for access to secure facilities.
