Job Description

Crown CI currently has an opening for an IT Systems Engineer. This position is part of a team of Information Telecommunications (IT) professionals supporting the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Command, Control, and Communications (C3) office which is responsible for ensuring emergency operations are maintained. If disruptions such as national emergencies, natural disasters, or equipment malfunctions occur, the C3 office is chartered with restoring the communication services expeditiously. The C3 office is responsible for a number of communications projects and programs.  The candidate would provide expertise across these activities. Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Supports EOC IT Subject Matter Experts on various Programs; leads in assigned project-based work to include tracking of all actions and activities
  • Works with the Project Control Analyst, supporting tasks/ projects
  • Having a thorough understanding of IT projects and Terminology
  • Supports EOC IT level 2/3 IT engineering support
  • Supports System Updates and Upgrades
  • Supports SpiceWorks ticketing system; opens and closes tickets
  • Develops and executes scripts for various software packages
  • Implements disciplined project management processes across C3 office programs and projects
  • Creates project processes and templates that facilitate the proper development, implementation, execution, monitoring and closing of customer projects
  • Supports development and integration projects utilizing off-the-shelf software and custom software with current and future Web-Based Applications and Services
  • Assists in the management and processes execution for projects that demonstrate and deploy iterative versions of software to clients and users
  • Interacts with the project teams and clients to document project requirements and develop project plans
  • Develops briefings and requirements documents, as required
  • Participates in weekly IT meetings
  • Ability and willingness to support IT projects, as required
  • Works with the Information System Security Officer to identify risks in the environment and develop controls and tests for compliance and audit purposes

Qualifications

Must pass a background investigation. US citizenship is required.  Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.

  • Experience with managing and implementing configuration baselines following industry’s best practices and have knowledge of security implementation guides (i.e., DISA STIGs, CIS Benchmark)
  • Experience with Patch Management and Software deployment tools (Ivanti, BigFix, WSUS, Marimba) to manage the deployment of patches and software products in the network
  • Experience with the development and deployment of Group Policy Objects to enforce enterprise policy on the network
  • Understands the concept of least privilege user access and implements the proper access control to enforce them on the network (i.e., Active Directory, Security Groups)
  • Knowledge of IT security architecture and design (firewalls, Intrusion Detection Systems, Virtual Private Networking, and virus/malware protection technologies).
  • Knowledge of LAN/WAN design and general internetworking technologies.
  • Software application design and development project management experience desired
  • Project management background in small to medium sized development, implementation and acquisition projects desired
  • Demonstrated experience in leading cross-functional project teams
  • Basic understanding of software application development lifecycle management processes, and enterprise architecture

Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Math or Engineering or related field, Information Science, or Computer Science

 3 years of relevant experience

  • Security + or GIAC Security Essentials Certification
  • Four Years applicable specialized experience may be substituted for a Bachelor’s degree

Travel Expectations: 0- 5%
