Product Owner
- Full-time
Company Description
We're a band of innovators, designers, and technologists looking to simplify wealth and unlock unprecedented access for all investors. We pride ourselves on building idiomatic native experiences. We know design matters, and we know investing in pixel-perfection is worthwhile.
We believe you cannot over-invest in culture. We accept humans are poor substitutes for robots - we also understand humans are not resources.
The Copia Wealth Studios team has created global #1 applications, built Deloitte Fast 500 companies, won National Entrepreneur of the Year awards, launched successful challenger banks, and shipped software for hundreds of complex enterprises.
Job Description
Copia Wealth Studios is looking for a Product Owner to tackle the radical transformation underway in the finance space. We have four core values that we believe make the ideal teammate:
Be Humble.
Be Humane.
Be Hungry.
Be Holistic.
Our first Product is a financial intelligence platform designed to help high net worth individuals (think business owners, family offices, entrepreneurs, and athletes) manage their investments. Our 'Patrons' track everything from art to crypto to real estate and business assets.
The team comprises veterans who have been shipping products for decades; we've been designing and developing native iOS apps since the dawn of the iOS SDK. We've already unlocked early product-market fit, we're fully funded, and we have plenty of runway to match our ambitions.
You love solving challenging problems and building robust features within cross-functional teams. You want opportunities to shape best practices, challenge product assumptions, and ship world-class software.
Regarding Culture:
You're someone who wants to make a direct impact on the Product.
You have a good sense of humour and believe culture matters.
You value autonomy and appreciate real flow state time.
You love learning and want to be on a team that will challenge you and give you the freedom to grow.
You care deeply about delighting users and want to work on a team that strives for pixel perfection.
Regarding Product Ownership:
Executing, getting things done.
Communicating is the job.
Leading through influence.
Making decisions informed by data.
Building great products, and having taste.
Always being prepared.
Qualifications
Worked on multi-discipline product teams before, either on the enterprise or consumer side.
Recognize communication is king. We won't need you to present reports or talk to investors, but you will be expected to communicate daily with the team, express concerns, and collaborate on problems.
Open to sharing. We want to see your ideas, and we want you to contribute to ours. We value strong opinions, weakly held.
Resilient & adaptable. You understand that building products can be messy and that agility is necessary.
Demonstrated track record of driving product development through each step in product development: research, initial concept, requirements gathering, development/deployment planning, implementation, launch, testing, analysis, and iteration
Additional Information
Notable Perks:
We're a distributed workforce with lots of experience working in remote teams. That said, we also know the importance of face-to-face. To that end, we host an annual Defrag onsite and allow employees to travel to the closest "hub" to mingle in between Defrags (within reason, pre-approval required).
Flexible hours. Most of the team is active during the day, but we don't have set hours. If you need to drop the kids off at school or grab groceries mid-day and would rather clock hours at night, that's cool by us. We recognize work-life balance and understand managing the modern family unit can be messy. We primarily operate in Mountain Time, so we ask that overlap occurs as much as possible for jamming and collaboration.
Fun matters, which is why we built "The Wheel of Fortuna," a prize wheel everyone gets to spin when we achieve our goals. It's also why we have weekly happy hours and regular "game nights."
Environment matters. You can work wherever you want. In a post COVID world, we plan to establish some office space where teams can come and go as they please, collaborating face to face as needed. We know environment matters, which is why every new hire gets a $1,000 office upgrade budget in addition to meeting their technology needs.
Health insurance. We provide competitive coverage for health, dental, vision, and life insurance in both the US and Canada. In the US specifically, we cover 75% of insurance.
Mental and physical health matters, which is why each employee is entitled to a $400/year stipend for gym/club/fitness-related membership. Also, we will reimburse you for an annual subscription to whatever meditation/mindfulness/wellness app you prefer.
Learning matters, which is why you can expense any (work-related) book you want. Any course under $250 is usually instant approval.
Workshop and conferences are handled on a case-by-case basis. However, philosophically we'll do whatever we can to fuel your passion. Historically this means sending people to WWDC, participating in industry events, and joining various workshops. If there's something that you're passionate about that also benefits the team, chances are we're going to approve it.
What are we doing about inclusion and diversity? We're committed to building a team where the talent can do their best work. As such, we're creating an environment of psychological safety where all teammates can be valued, respected, and heard. We believe that diversity and inclusion enable us to broaden our perspectives and build a more equitable future. We encourage applicants from all creeds, backgrounds, and walks of life to apply.
