Our Company is currently looking for a Staff Scientist.  This is a newly created position located in Camarillo, California location.

Job Description

This position will plan, schedule, and execute complex analytical development and characterization projects and product investigations. In addition, this position provides analytical testing support for our products. Projects also involve in-depth investigations into identity of unknowns discovered during product testing. The position may also include method development and validation in support of product testing. Support for method transfers may also be required.

 

The Scientist is accountable for the accurate analysis of product samples submitted as part of complex product quality investigations and ensuring that complex analytical methods are accurate and in compliance with corporate requirements.

 

Principal Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Characterization of complex protein structure and function
  • Develops analytical methods. Organizes, evaluates and draws conclusions from experimental data; makes experienced technical judgments.
  • May originate reports in the appropriate written or oral form so that new ideas or approaches are brought to the attention of appropriate personnel.
  • Participates in discussions and meetings for the purpose of exchanging ideas in relevant areas of interest. Communicates new ideas and approaches to appropriate personnel.
  • Maintains familiarity with literature and recent advances in particular fields of interest; acquires knowledge and understanding in related fields.
  • May help prepare technical papers for publication or presentation.
  • Performs analyses to support products. These projects are usually limited in scope and typically involve the application of established analytical methods to support a specific product issue

Qualifications

Experience, Education, Training, Traits:

  • A Ph.D. and 4+ years of industry experience is required.  A Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of industry experience within a biopharmaceutical development program is also acceptable
  • Position requires hands-on experience with analytical techniques and practical knowledge of operation of instrumentation typically used in analysis of proteins
  • Must have established expertise in the development of often complex analytical methods for biologics
  • Experience in HPLC method development, MALS, DLS, MFI, NTA and other biophysical techniques preferred.
  • Formulation development experience preferred.
  • Must have a strong working knowledge of laboratory GMP and works to reinforce such knowledge in others
  • Must have some previous responsibility for planning R&D activities and program timetables
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including all MS Office applications.
