Coffman Engineers is seeking a highly skilled, self-motivated Civil Engineer with one (1) to three (3) years of experience to join our team in applying engineering skills to challenging projects for our Bay Area office. In this role, you will be a key contributor, collaborating with our multi-disciplinary team on site development, grading, drainage, stormwater management systems, and utility infrastructure. We are looking for people who work effectively with all personality types, are interested in developing close relationships with our great clients, and who desires to grow professionally and stay involved in the activities and exciting trends in the industry. The position will involve a mix of technical design and consulting. What You’ll Do:  

• Contribute to civil design from permitting through project completion for diverse market sectors.  

• Prepare civil engineering plans including site plans, grading, drainage, stormwater management, utility plans, ADA accessibility, and other associated improvements using AutoCAD Civil 3D.  

• Research jurisdictional codes and manuals to determine design requirements. 

• Collaborate with structural, fire protection, mechanical, and electrical teams on complex projects.  

• Education: B.S. in Civil Engineering from an accredited university (Required). 
• Licensing: Civil Engineer-In-Training (E.I.T.) required. 
• Experience: 1-3 years in site development and civil design. 
• Software: Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D. 

Compensation, Benefits & Perks: 

• Approximate Base Salary: $75k-95k based on experience. 
• Straight Pay for Overtime: Paid overtime at 1.0 times hourly rate. 
• Bonuses: Annual discretionary performance bonuses.  
• Retirement: 401k with up to 5% matching.  
• Flexibility: Hybrid work schedule and flexible PTO.  
• Commuter Friendly: 3 blocks from BART; bike storage and central location.

The position is hybrid where the staff are in-person three days a week (minimum) and have the option to work remotely two days a week. The optional remote workdays of the week are currently Monday and Friday. These guidelines are reassessed periodically.
