Job Description
THE JOB
We are actively seeking a Credit Analyst Manager within our Canadian EIC Team. The Credit Analyst Manager within the Enhanced Information Center will be responsible for the proactive and dynamic management of Canada’s buyer portfolio relating to trade credit insurance exposure and overview of a team of credit analysts who will be completing credit assessments and exposure recommendations on Canadian companies. The Credit Analyst Manager will recognize two direct reports and will be expected to be a direct contributor to credit analyses, lead monthly portfolio monitoring reviews, participate in direct buyer communications, and support team professional development, while maintaining and building upon core standards. The manager will also be involved with broader North American EIC initiatives.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Credit Analysis & DRA Production: Assess buyer creditworthiness using financials, credit reports, and internal data; produce rigorous Debtor Risk Assessments with clear conclusions and underwriting recommendations.
- Direct Information Gathering: Engage company executives via calls and field visits to obtain timely financial and operational insights and validate risk assessments.
- Portfolio Monitoring & Risk Identification: Oversee large credit exposures across sectors, identify emerging risk trends, and manage sensitive portfolios with a focus on buyer risk and policy profitability.
- Review, Approval & Governance: Approve complex credit analyses within delegated authority; present recommendations on sensitive cases to risk committees.
- Team Leadership & Performance Management: Coach, mentor, and develop analysts; manage workflow, ensure coverage, and deliver against KPIs while maintaining high analytical and productivity standards.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Commercial, Collections, Claims, Business Information, and International teams to enhance decision-making, share market intelligence, and support data strategy initiatives.
- Strategy, Compliance & Continuous Improvement: Drive sector strategies, ensure regulatory and procedural compliance, lead reporting/monitoring initiatives, and contribute to management communication and process optimization.
Qualifications
THE CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate will recognize a strong soft skill set paired with a deep understanding of financial statement analysis concepts. This role also requires effective time management, an operational mindset, and a strong attention to detail. Candidates should feel comfortable engaging with internal and external stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will recognize:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or similar discipline. An M.B.A. or CFA is beneficial.
- 5+ years of experience in the credit insurance or financial services industries with a proven record of increasing underwriting authority/delegation.
- Previous experience managing or leading high-performance teams.
- Excellent communication skills and proven ability to navigate key IT resources.
- Working knowledge of credit insurance products and trends, corporate finance, business ethics, and credit risk fundamentals.
- Ideal candidate brings senior-level credit analysis experience and is ready to take the next step into a first-line leadership role, overseeing a small, high-performing team within a well-established and collaborative environment.
- Bilingual English/ French is considered an asset.
Location: Hybrid work environment based in either Toronto, ON or Montreal, QC
