Job Description

The Role:


Clifford Chance US LLP is seeking a full time Practice Area Assistant. The role is responsible for providing high-level administrative support to our attorneys in the M&A practice area.  This role requires strong attention to detail, great organizational and analytical skills, and a strong client service attitude.  Successful candidates will be personable, responsive, and proactive.  This position will be in our New York office.  

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide day to day administrative support to our attorneys;
  • Type, edit, proofread and finalize documents;
  • Work closely with the Business Development& Marketing team, to understand the practice group's offerings, clients, and markets. Provide administrative support to the BD&M function of the practice group, as needed;
  • Coordinate new matter openings and obtain conflict waivers;
  • Coordinate meetings, assist in organizing client events/seminars, travel arrangements, appointments, and conferences;
  • Create, maintain, and manage files;
  • Prepare expense reports;
  • Coordinate with the Billing team on billing matters;
  • Enter attorney time into the Firm's billing system (InTapp Time);
  • Maintain attorney contacts in the Firm's Client Relationship Management Software (InterAction);
  • Maintain attorney biographies as needed;
  • Collaborate with resources inside and outside the Firm as appropriate to complete projects or tasks;
  • Provide back-up coverage for other secretaries as needed;
  • Perform other administrative functions and duties as assigned; and
  • Assist in fostering an environment of superior client service, collaboration, and teamwork.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.  Associate's degree or equivalent training preferred.
  • 1-2 years of related legal or executive secretarial experience in a law firm or professional services firm.
  • Must have a high level of typing accuracy at a minimum of 60 wpm. 
  • Must possess excellent organizational and client service skills.
  • Must have a proactive and positive approach.
  • Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced and growing environment.
  • Must be able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritize competing demands to meet deadlines.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Must be able to adhere and comply with the Firm's Agile Working Policy which requires employees to work from the office at least three days each calendar week.
  • Ability to work overtime as assigned including working outside the core business hours as needed.
  • Must be independently legally authorized to work in the United States.

 

Clifford Chance US LLP offers a comprehensive benefits and compensation package. The salary range for this role is $52,000 - $60,000 Actual salary will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and relevant experience.
