Job Description

The New York County District Attorney's Office (DANY) has an immediate opening for a Part-Time College Aide in its Special Victim Division. Reporting directly to the Deputy Division Chief for Gender-Based Violence Policy. In this position the person will be responsible for supporting the Division in the development and implementation of policy, training, and external engagement projects and initiatives.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Assist the Deputy Chief in the coordination and administration of the SVD Advisory Council, the SVD Survivor Network, the Manhattan Sexual Assault Task Force, and other convenings and forums through which SVD engages with survivors, service providers and community members.
- Assist the Deputy Chief in the coordination and administration of DANY’s Early Engagement Team Initiative and DANY’s partnership with the Clinical Forensic Fellowship Program and other tasks related to the recruitment and use of gender-based violence trial experts.
- Assist the Deputy Chief in the coordination and implementation of SVD and officewide trainings.
- Conduct state, local and federal research on SVD related legislation and policy and prepare reports for SVD and DANY’s policy team.
- Support the Division’s partnership with the Community Partnerships Unit on SVD related community-based events and trainings.

- Current office employees: To be eligible for a transfer or promotion, staff must have already served at least one (1) year in their current position and be in good standing. In addition, must meet the minimum qualifications of the position.
- Looking for candidates that could commit to one (1) year to the hiring unit.
- Authorization to work in the United States is required for this position.

Qualifications

For Assignment Level I:
Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school.
For Assignment Level II (Information Technology):
Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school with a specific course of study in information technology, computer science, management information systems, data processing, or closely related field, including or supplemented by 9 semester credits in an acceptable course of study.
For Assignment Level III (Information Technology Fellow):
Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school with a specific course of study in information technology, computer science, management information systems, data processing, or other area relevant to the information technology project(s) assigned, including or supplemented by 9 semester credits in an acceptable course of study. Appointments to this Assignment Level will be made by the Technology Steering Committee through the Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications.

SPECIAL NOTE
Maximum tenure for all Assignment Levels in the title of College Aide is 6 years. No student shall be employed more than half-time in any week in which classes in which the student is enrolled are in session. Students may be employed full-time during their vacation periods.
