Job Description

Name of the Project: Treasure Island Natural Gas System 

Under general direction, manages and coordinates activities and personnel engaged in the general maintenance and repair of all buildings and grounds and the natural gas system on Treasure Island, including physical properties, machinery, equipment and other pertinent inside and outside facilities; maintains environmental health and safety compliance in accordance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations.

Essential Functions:

  • Plans and directs facility maintenance, renovation and capital improvement projects and related programs.
  • Designs, monitors and maintains building management and maintenance systems, operational procedures and records using applicable software; plans and
  • supervises the repair, maintenance and alteration of mechanical, natural gas system and electrical systems; advises administrator and department heads on specific operational or mechanical features of complex equipment and systems.
  • Act as a first response to survey system breaches, leaks, trouble calls, etc.
  • Operate all valves, and perform all isolations.
  • Coordinate all planned and emergency repairs.
  • Coordinate and/or perform new construction inspections.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to the natural gas system.
  • Keep maintenance log. Requires understanding of technical terms relating to utilities.
  • Review developer submittals for workability.
  • On call 24-hours per day, 7-days per week, if needed.
  • Perform utility locating and mark-outs in response to Utility Underground Services Alert. Requires common knowledge, interpreting plans, and use of locating devices.
  • Respond to customer calls, complaints, and requests.
  • Represent on behalf of Utility Field Services at TIDA (Treasure Island Development Agency) and redevelopment coordination meetings.
  • Prepares budgets, proposals, job estimates, and other reports or correspondence for activities supervised; develops and recommends requirements for personnel, materials, supplies and equipment; subsequently is responsible for expenditures for professional and nonprofessional services and purchase of operational materials and supplies within budgetary allocations.

Qualifications

Experience: Eight (8) years of experience operating, maintaining, and repairing a wide variety of mechanical, electrical, pumping, heating, air conditioning, ventilation, refrigeration and related plant machinery and systems found in large industrial, production, commercial or institutional buildings; of which four (4) years must have been in a supervisory capacity directing the operation and maintenance activities of subordinate personnel.

License and Certification:

Possession of a Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) certificate issued by the Federal Environmental Protection Agency for working with heating and ventilating equipment (HVAC) or other refrigeration equipment using CFC's and HCFC's.

Possession of a valid class “C” Driver License.

Desirable Qualifications: 

  • Knowledge of Institutional plumbing and excavation law in California dealing with Underground Service Alert of Northern California
