Job Description

What you’ll be doing

We're looking for a seasoned Engineering Manager to take our team to the next level in a data-rich, fast-moving marketplace.

You'll

  • Lead and grow a team of engineers, setting a high bar for quality, ownership and pace, while actively coaching and developing talent
  • Stay hands-on where it matters - guiding system design, reviewing critical work, and solving complex technical problems
  • Drive delivery of scalable, high-impact software, making pragmatic trade-offs between speed, quality and long-term maintainability
  • Partner closely with Product, Design and Data to translate commercial problems into well-shaped technical solutions
  • Build solutions in a context-rich, two-sided marketplace, where inventory, pricing, demand and user behaviour intersect; aligning solutions to real business outcomes
  • Evolve how the team engineers, embedding AI-enabled development, automation and modern practices to improve both delivery speed and quality
  • Own systems beyond delivery, being accountable for performance in production, including reliability, cost, and ongoing optimisation

Qualifications

What we are looking for

  • Proven experience leading engineering teams and delivering complex initiatives
  • Able to set direction, raise standards, and get quality outcomes shipped
  • Strong technical background across modern stacks; ideally .NET, frontend frameworks (Angular or React), and data-intensive systems spanning relational and NoSQL stores
  • Deep understanding of cloud-native architecture and distributed systems, including event-driven patterns, scalability and reliability in production
  • Experience with modern engineering practices, not limited to CI/CD, infrastructure as code, containerisation and automation
  • Ability to coach, mentor and grow engineers, while creating a culture of ownership, accountability and continuous improvement
  • Success building trusted relationships across Product, Design and the broader business
  • Demonstrated ability to attract and develop high-performing teams, navigate challenges, and create an environment where people do their best work

We know not everyone will meet every requirement, and that’s okay. If you’re excited about the role and believe you can make a difference, we’d love to hear from you.
