Together with carsales this is your opportunity to lead our talented iOS team where you will get to work in a truly collaborative environment within our Consumer & Commercial Product Development Teams. You'll be working collaboratively with other development teams in the business, you will get to experience all facets of the product lifecycle, roadmap and strategy.

Consumer, in a nutshell, is our Carsales.com.au website across desktop, mobile and apps, along with all our other verticals (bikes, boats, caravans, trucks, farms, construction, and international sites). Our purpose is to make buying and selling a great experience for our customers.

You'll work with a super focused team to develop and deliver an elegant, feature rich experience with over 200K daily active users. The outcomes you produce will be both highly visible and impactful.

What you’ll do

As an iOS Engineering Manager, you will build teams, products, and services. You will be responsible for technical architecture, growing the team, ensuring collaboration across a multitude of disciplines and providing support to individuals through your coaching, mentorship and leadership skills. 

You will be partnering with your Product Manager and Product Designer to deliver both product and technical vision for Carsales iOS and Android Apps, driving innovation on products and services that will improve our customer experience as well as scale our apps as our customer-base continues to grow.

You will

• Participate in Product Discovery with your Product Manager and Designer conducting customer research and all parts of product development, working with adjacent Engineering teams (Android Platform, Mobi Platform, Desktop Platform, Data Science, Machine Learning) 
• Lead and participate in critical technical, design, strategy and product discussions with leaders across the organization and company
• Scope, build, and scale products, systems, and services that have an immediate impact on our customers
• Define your team’s vision and roadmap by thoroughly understanding your customers’ needs
• Build a high talent density team by staffing exceptional talent, coaching and developing engineers, cultivating pragmatic engineering decision-making, and leveraging your technical expertise to constantly raise the bar

What we are looking for

• Boundless curiosity, persistence and a desire to get things done
• Strong experience in software development life cycles. 
• Plenty of experience directly leading engineers (including providing mentorship, feedback, and investing in the career growth of your team members)
• A history of healthy collaboration with product managers, product designers, engineers, and other engineering managers on developing roadmaps and executing against them
• Experience working on mobile apps that have scaled their users
• Demonstrated inclusive and interpersonal attributes that connect you to our behaviours (we change the game, we own it, we step in, we are curious, we don’t take ourselves too seriously)
