SEO Generalist, Brazil
- Contract
Job Description
Hey, g'day, mabuhay, kia ora, 你好, hallo, vítejte!
Thanks for stopping by. We know job hunting can be a little time consuming and you're probably keen to find out what's on offer, so we'll get straight to the point.
Where and how you can work
Alongside our global campuses, we also collaborate with talented contractors and freelancers from all over the world to help us achieve our crazy big goals. While we support flexible, remote-friendly ways of working, for this role we’re focusing on Sao Paulo, Brazil, so we can best support our teams and keep collaboration flowing.
This role is a 12-month engagement, working full-time hours.
What you’d be doing in this role
As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.
At the moment, this role is focused on:
- Providing hands-on technical SEO support to our SEO Country Leads across multiple international markets — identifying issues, recommending fixes, and making sure our global pages stay technically healthy and scalable.
- Monitoring and maintaining hreflang implementation, indexation, and crawlability across locales — catching duplication issues, incorrect locale targeting, and crawl inefficiencies before they compound.
- Using tools like Google Search Console, Ahrefs, Botify, and Lumar to surface errors and opportunities, then implementing changes directly or in collaboration with engineering and platform teams.
- Managing technical SEO work through Jira, keeping documentation clear so every stakeholder — from Country Leads to engineers — always knows what's in flight, what's been shipped, and what's coming next.
- Staying curious about how AI-powered search is evolving (think: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews) and bringing that perspective into how we think about technical discoverability across our markets.
You're probably a match if:
- You've spent at least 3 years getting your hands dirty in technical SEO — audits, crawl analysis, structured data, JS rendering issues — and you're genuinely energised by the detective work it takes to diagnose and fix complex problems at scale.
- You understand how international SEO works in practice, not just in theory — hreflang, locale targeting, indexation governance across multiple markets — and you've dealt with the edge cases that come with programmatically generated page sets.
- You're comfortable holding multiple priorities at once without dropping the ball — you self-manage well, communicate proactively, and know when to flag a blocker versus when to just solve it.
- You translate technical findings into plain language that Country Leads and non-technical stakeholders can act on — you don't hide behind jargon, and you know a clear recommendation is more valuable than a comprehensive report no one reads.
- You're genuinely curious about where search is heading — you're already paying attention to GEO, AEO, and how LLMs are changing discoverability, and you bring observations rather than waiting for someone to hand you a brief.
- You thrive in collaborative, cross-functional environments — you build trust quickly, work well with engineers and strategists alike, and you see feedback as a tool for getting better, not a critique of your worth.
