Brazil Content Lead
- Full-time
- Recruitment type: Permanent
Company Description
Hey, hello, hiya, g'day, mabuhay, kia ora, 你好, hallo, vítejte!
Thanks for stopping by. We know job hunting can be a little time consuming and you're probably keen to find out what's on offer, so we'll get straight to the point.
Where and how you can work
Our headquarters is in sunny Sydney, Australia, but our team spans the globe. While we support flexible, remote-friendly ways of working, for this role, we’re focusing on São Paulo, Brazil, so we can best support our teams and keep collaboration flowing.
What you’d be doing in this role
As Canva scales, change continues to be part of our DNA — and we like to think that’s all part of the fun.
We’re introducing the Brazil Content Lead role to ensure content is a core driver of Canva’s country strategy. Content is one of Canva’s most powerful growth and engagement levers, and in Brazil it needs to move fast, feel unmistakably local, and clearly communicate what Canva enables people to do.
As Brazil Content Lead you’ll own the end-to-end content strategy for the country — from identifying cultural and product gaps, to producing and surfacing content at speed. You’ll act as the senior local voice on content, partnering closely with the Country Manager and central teams to ensure content directly supports growth, frequency, and clarity.
At the moment, this role is focused on:
- Leading content for the platform, not for Marketing. The scope of this role is the content native to Canva within the platform, including templates, elements, media, and other library assets. It is focused on serving current and potential user needs and driving adoption, retention, and monetization - not working from a Marketing perspective to create branded campaigns or social media strategies.
- Defining what “great content” means for Brazil, and building the strategy to get there. You are expected to combine strong data analysis, local market understanding, and cultural judgment to define priorities, trade-offs, and investment choices with clear business impact. You should be able to analyse deeply, plan accordingly and execute with hands on approach, not relying on localization or adaptation of central guidance.
- Owning content performance end to end. This means being able to define clear performance benchmarks, expectations, and outputs for each effort from your strategy. After execution, you should be able to connect results back to strategy execution, reassess priorities when needed, and improve both team workflows and production approaches based on what the data shows.
- Ensuring content contributes to broader business impact through cross-functional collaboration. This role is responsible for making sure local content output supports user growth, monetization, and Education adoption in Brazil. That requires working closely with Product, SEO, Marketing, Education, and other partners to bring broader data/context into decisions, strengthening collaboration cross team to maximize content impact on the market goals.
- Shaping a content library that reflects the breadth of user needs in Brazil. You will make prioritization choices across multiple use cases (Professional, Personal, Educational), doctypes (Presentations, Videos, Documents, Social Media assets, etc), themes, styles, and tones. The goal is to work with the pre existing library while improving its relevancy and build a library that becomes more relevant, useful, and diverse to reflect the diversity of the Brazilian audience potential.
- Choosing the right production pipeline for each need. You should be able to assess and combine freelance designers, local creators, creators across LATAM, localization efforts, external vendors or agencies, and AI-supported workflows depending on the problem to solve. The expectation is to build an effective production model across quality, speed, scalability, and cost, rather than rely on a single approach.
- Enabling creator teams with clear content direction. You will support creators and partners with the insights, priorities, and guidance needed to improve relevance, productivity, quality, and diversity. Success is not measured by volume alone, but by how well creator output reflects user needs and strategic priorities.
You’re probably a good match if:
- You think about content as part of the product experience, not from a Marketing perspective. You understand Content's impact in the user experience and Canva's value as a platform. You're able to think of Content's business impact from the templates, elements, media, and other assets instead of the brand positioning strategies.
- You’re data-literate with a hands on approach. You’ve used user behaviour, performance data, and market context to identify opportunities, set priorities, and change direction when needed. You know how to use analysis to make both strategic and operational decisions.
- You have strong judgment on brazilian culture and local user experience. You are able to combine data driven analysis with current local context, including the diversity of the brazilian audience, what resonates now, what is emerging, and how that should influence content priorities.
- You’ve built content strategy from scratch and shaped direction through your own judgment. You’ve defined priorities, made trade-off decisions, and built a content direction for yourself and your team. You were then able to execute and deliver on that strategy with clear outcomes and evaluation for performance.
- You’ve worked effectively with global teams and collaborated cross-functionally to drive business goals. You are comfortable working across time zones, cultural contexts, and different ways of operating. You know how to bring together perspectives from multiple stakeholders to strengthen decisions, align priorities, and improve local content impact.
- You know how to work across multiple production pipelines at the same time. You are comfortable deciding how different production approaches should be used, what success should look like for each one, and how to balance trade-offs across quality, speed, scalability, and efficiency. You can manage a diversified supply model with clear expectations for both output and performance.
- You are comfortable making decisions and owning outcomes. You can work in ambiguity, identify gaps, align others when needed, and stay accountable for results. You are comfortable defining priorities and moving work forward with clarity.
