About the Role

The International SEO team is responsible for improving SEO performance of logged-out pages across the Canva website. Our mission in SEO is to empower every user in the world to discover Canva.

As Canva continues to scale globally, we’re looking for an accomplished SEO Country Lead to own the UK search strategy within our International SEO team. You’ll lead all aspects of SEO for the UK market, driving measurable growth through world-class technical execution, content excellence, and local market expertise.

You are a seasoned SEO professional who combines strategic vision with hands-on capability. You understand what it takes to lead complex SEO programs for enterprise-scale websites, influence cross-functional teams, and deliver high-impact results.

You’ll guide the UK-specific link builder on effective link-building strategies and lead bespoke, country-level SEO initiatives. Adapting to a hyper-growth environment, you’ll make data-driven decisions and continuously seek new opportunities and process improvements. Your leadership will be crucial in rallying cross-functional teams towards ambitious growth goals.

Reporting directly to the English SEO Lead, you’ll ensure our global strategies are effectively localised while also developing unique strategies for the UK market. Your role will involve representing your team within the broader company through regular presentations, reports, workshops, and goal-planning sessions.

What you’ll do

  • Lead the end-to-end SEO strategy and execution for the UK market, aligning with Canva’s global strategy while tailoring it to local search behaviours, language nuances, and competitive dynamics.

  • Collaborate closely with Canva’s core SEO teams to ensure alignment across international priorities, share insights, and scale best practices.

  • Partner cross-functionally with designers, engineers, data analysts, and operations managers to deliver seamless execution and continuous optimisation across UX, site performance, and reporting.

  • Collaborate with content, localisation, and outreach specialists to ensure UK pages are high-quality, optimised, and locally relevant.

  • Direct all pillars of SEO - technical, content, and link authority - for the local website to ensure Canva maintains and grows organic visibility across millions of users in the UK.

  • Build and launch pages directly in the Canva CMS, ensuring new content is fully optimised for target keywords, follows best-in-class on-page practices, and supports broader site architecture goals.

  • Set and own performance targets, using data to guide priorities, optimise continuously, and report measurable growth outcomes.

  • Oversee technical site health - monitoring crawl efficiency, site performance, and structured data accuracy, and driving engineering collaboration to maintain world-class SEO hygiene.

  • Lead UK link-building and authority growth initiatives, applying advanced outreach strategies and scalable frameworks to strengthen Canva’s presence in key niches.

  • Represent the UK to the global SEO team, ensuring international priorities are translated to local market insights and that our global frameworks are effectively executed in-market.

  • Champion SEO excellence, mentoring specialists, and fostering a culture of experimentation and measurable impact.

What we're looking for

  • Proven success leading large-scale SEO programs for enterprise websites (500+ pages) with measurable growth outcomes.

  • Expert-level knowledge across technical SEO, content strategy, and authority building - and a clear understanding of how they combine to drive organic success.

  • Hands-on execution ability - comfortable building, publishing, and optimising pages within a CMS environment.

  • Strategic and analytical mindset, with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and convert insights into actionable plans.

  • Experience managing and mentoring SEO teams, ensuring alignment, accountability, and performance.

  • Proficiency with enterprise SEO tools, including Google Analytics, Mode, Looker, Search Console, Ahrefs, Dragon Metrics, Screaming Frog, and Botify.

  • Strong communicator and influencer, able to champion SEO priorities across marketing, engineering, and product functions.
