Job Description

About the opportunity:
Buying is a new opportunity for our business and so we are looking for a part-time Buyer with the confidence to build a team from the ground up. Your primary responsibility is to grow our product range - understanding what our customers want and need, analysing the market, negotiating contracts and growing the business.

More about the role:

  • Implement a full buying lifecycle, taking into consideration new trends and products
  • Analyse financial, market and customer data to identify opportunities to deliver a product range
  • Be accountable for delivering product categories, building close relationships with suppliers
  • Implement price, promotion & range strategies as set by the Business strategy and taking action with underperforming SKUs
  • End to end understanding of product costs to help reduce costs
  • Analyse the market for our target audience, analysing category data and reacting accordingly with our selection of products in order to support the growth of the business.

Qualifications

More about you:

  • A minimum of 2 years of demonstrable buying experience (Preferably Grocery)
  • Knowledge and understanding of the supermarket/grocery industry
  • A real passion for food (desirable)
  • Negotiation knowledge & skills
  • Confident to work alone to grow the business and the Buying team
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of finance.
  • Knowledge of buying systems and processes
  • Clear and effective communication
  • An analytical mindset with effective communicating and influencing skills
