Job Description

Summary of role –

This is a critical role supporting the VP of General Accounting and Finance performing all aspects of the monthly book close. Key responsibilities will include managing all changes to the chart of accounts, coordinating the close calendar, and working closely with the extended accounting, tax and FP&A teams globally to ensure deadlines are met. Other responsibilities include maintaining and presenting detailed balance sheet reports with variance explanations on a monthly basis. This role requires strong communication skills, the ability to manage projects, problem solving skills, and strong time management skills. In addition, the candidate must have a fundamental understanding of GAAP accounting, SEC reporting, purchase accounting, foreign currency and statement of cash flows.

Responsibilities –

  • Manage all aspects of the monthly close process and all changes impacting the chart of accounts        
  • Monitoring key balance sheet accounts for all balance sheet organizations
  • Enhance reporting & monitoring efforts for a smoother close
  • Coordinate and maintain quarterly reporting deliverables that support footnote disclosure in 10Q/10K
  • Assist / enhance the monthly balance sheet reporting for management    
  • Respond to ad-hoc requests for information and analysis on a timely basis
  • Support selected reporting of balance sheet changes for cash flow reporting
  • Ad-hoc projects in a corporate environment that is transforming to best-in-class, including but not limited to:
    • Close acceleration initiatives 
    • Reporting enhancements
    • Consolidation process improvements
    • Managing extended accounting teams remotely

Experience –

The successful candidate will be a self-starter who is ambitious, collaborative, and analytical.  Strong documentation and communication skills are necessary in this role. 

Qualifications include:

  • Public accounting experience preferred with CPA or in the process of taking CPA exams
  • 1 – 2 years of demonstrated experience in audit and/or general accounting, including relevant experience in corporate consolidations
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, ability to work independently, and capable of delivering change across a broad global accounting organization
  • Ability to perform complex analysis and summarize data for management review    
  • Working knowledge of GAAP accounting and SEC reporting
  • Interact with internal and external auditors including quarterly and year-end annual audit requests 
  • Must possess strong project management skills and the ability to meet designated deadlines
  • Interact with internal stakeholders on project improvement initiatives     
  • Requires data analysis and strong MS Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.) 
  • Proficiency or cursory knowledge in Oracle, TM1/PAX, or other ledger systems and reporting tools
