Job Description

General Manager – Securities Finance and Collateral Management


The General Manager (“the Role”) is responsible for the rapid development of Broadridge’s Securities Finance and Collateral Management solution suite of offerings (“the Business”) by driving revenue and EBIT growth along with ensuring quality delivery of services.

The Role will manage a profitable P&L of ~$30M in FY20 and directly manage a team of ~40 with an additional ~90 people in the P&L as part of shared services teams across a global model. The business is expected to grow significantly over the next 3 to 5 year horizon through identification of client and market-focused solutions, wider sales and distribution channels, and leadership that can effect change and deliver results.

The Role will have matrix responsibility for key delivery functions that will need to be leveraged to successfully win, on-board, and then support new clients.

The business is in the process of integrating three separate products into a single SFCM platform that has commonality in clients, technologies, and solutions. These legacy businesses have been integrated organizationally but we believe that further integration can drive fast client adoption, win more market share, and provide a wider range of opportunities for our associates. 

Main Purpose

  • Responsible and accountable for all aspects of the P&L, including
    • Management of all client relationships for the Business (“great client satisfaction”)
    • Execution of business growth for the Business (“accretive revenue growth”)
    • Development of, and execution of, strategies that deliver tangible value (“strategic growth”)
    • Management of cost base and optimization of costs to deliver earnings growth (“accretive EBIT growth”)
    • Work directly with other Broadridge businesses in delivery of integrated business and services that create increased value  (“win bundled solution deals”)
    • Work with Broadridge businesses on a global basis where the Business are part of a far larger solution set (“win and maintain global mandates”)
    • Management of budgeting and financial reporting (“financial stewardship”)  
    • Leadership and management of the Business’ associates (“inspirational coaching and mentoring”)
  • Responsible for contributing to Broadridge International’s overall strategy and growth through direction participation in various governance roles (“build a business to be proud of”)


General Responsibilities

Business Development & Sales

  • Win business for the Business to make Broadridge’s overall growth objectives
  • Responsible for the Business’ revenue base across all delivered services and clients
  • Work directly with sales group to maximise revenue generating opportunities
  • Close opportunity in partnership with sales team and ensuring the right resources are allocated to achieve this
  • Ensure there is a sustainable business model for the Solution in terms of pipeline (minimum 5:1), and product viability

Business Strategy

  • Develop, evolve, and constantly maintain a business development plan for the Business that supports the strategic growth plans
  • Continually assess feedback from sales, product managers, clients, consultancies, and market experts to develop solutions that create demand and are relevant
  • Ensure strategies are executable and are taken from inception to successful client adoption in a well-managed manner with accountability for delivery
  • Collaborate with Marketing on solution launches and events to enhance Broadridge’s reputation and win new business

Client Management

  • Manage client relationships of the Business to maximise client retention and satisfaction and win new business as a result
  • Work closely with Broadridge account management groups to ensure client experience is consistency and that the good of Broadridge is served
  • Serve as the trusted escalation point for the resolution of issues
  • Maintain specific senior relationships with clients and prospects with a long-term aim of client retention and business growth
  • Ensure quality of client services such that SLAs are met/exceeded and ensure clients will  recommend Broadridge


  • Inspire teams to convert new business to beat “plan” and “budget”
  • Ensure that resources are planned for implementation activities
  • Ensure that clear deliverables and requirements are set out at start of project
  • Participate in senior governance on larger initiatives
  • Manage escalations and ensure effective conclusion for client and Broadridge
  • Provide direction to steering for implementation projects involving the Business
  • Ensure associates participate effectively and efficiently in global implementations and understands roles and responsibilities of the team members


  • Inspire teams to exceed SLA and KPI goals to deliver excellent client satisfaction
  • Ensure clients receive the support they need and work with the centres of excellence to deliver efficiencies within support functions.
  • Ensure continuous improvement processes are in place to review operational efficiencies and implement improvements
  • Participate in regional, and global initiatives to improve operations
  • Ensure clients who take global services (such as our ASP services) receive the same or better levels of client services as if they were a local client

HR responsibilities – People and Culture

  • Provide leadership to associates, motivating the teams to exceed our  business goals
  • Direct line management of operational associates under line management
  • Stewardship of local associates in shared service functions such as Finance, Sales, Development, QA, IT Infrastructure
  • Ensure all associates, irrespective of function, feel part of our vison and one company agenda
  • Identify and promote high potential talent and work with HR on talent agenda
  • Address lower performing talent and inspire them to improve or manage out appropriately

  • Provide accurate financial planning and reporting via finance team, and manage the overall P&L for the Business
  • Work with finance team to produce finance schedules (operating plans, forecasts, strategic plans) to the specific timetables
  • Ensure processes are in place to ensure accurate financial reporting to clients, e.g. invoices are raised and paid in a timely manner
  • Ensure decisions and actions of yourself and the associates align to achieving Broadridge’s finance goals while ensuring excellent client satisfaction
  • Manage regulatory and legal issues as required under guidance of BR & GTO leadership
  • Ensure business cases are robust and tested thoroughly creating value for BR and the client
  • Negotiate business terms to a successful, fair conclusion on new contracts and act as arbitrator on difficult to conclude negotiations

Person Specification

  • Deep knowledge of global securities financing and collateral management industry
  • Experience delivering technology solutions as a vendor or internal provider at a large firm
  • Good knowledge of Broadridge product set with a strong interest in the evolution of the financial services industry and how Broadridge’s solution will adapt
  • Able to inspire others and bring teams together to work across time zones and cultures to service clients
  • Prepared to get involved in specific critical issues and address as needed
  • Be seen as a leader within GTO and International through driving results, personal commitment, and behaviours
  • Good presentation skills and ability to influence and engage clients and prospects
  • Strong analytic and numeracy, while able to understand business issues and financials to deliver value to Broadridge
  • Experience of managing business relationships
  • Strong sense of Business ethics and Broadridge values
  • Ability to comprehend the bigger picture (and needs of Broadridge) which may conflict on occasion with own Business needs
