Fractional Defense-Tech PR & Growth Communications Consultant
- Contract
Company Description
We are a dual-use AI company revolutionizing aircraft sustainment logistics for the Department of Defense.
Following successful execution of multiple AFMC (Air Force Materiel Command) and AFSC (Air Force Sustainment Center) Working Capital Fund (WCF) SBIR Phase III awards, along with a validated Platform One cATO SaaS pilot deployment, we have documented over $200M in cost avoidance for our customers.
We are now scaling our Go-To-Market strategy to secure long-term sustainability via the POM (Program Objective Memorandum) cycle and an established NDAA Program of Record (PoR).
Job Description
We are seeking a highly specialized Strategic Communications and PR Consultant to bridge the gap between our technical/operational success and defense budget decision-makers.
You will not just generate "buzz"; you will design and execute an integrated PR strategy specifically engineered to influence PEOs, SAF/AQ stakeholders, congressional staffers, and MAJCOM leadership.
If you have personally helped technology companies or defense programs move from successful pilots, SBIR/STTR, OTA, or prototype efforts into programmatic funding and sustained DoD procurement, we want to hear from you!
Main Responsibilities:
- Strategic Messaging: Translate our technical milestones (cATO, Platform One architecture, AI logistics models) and financial proofs ($200M cost avoidance) into highly compelling narratives for defense leadership.
- Targeted Earned Media: Secure placements, profiles, and op-eds in tier-1 defense trade publications (e.g., Defense One, Breaking Defense, Air & Space Forces Magazine, Federal Computer Week), and AI business publications (e.g. Bloomberg).
- WordPress Content Management: writing, managing, and publishing copy on the company’s website
- Congressional & POM Campaign Support: Work alongside our government affairs team to craft collateral, white papers, and digital messaging designed to build consensus for a dedicated Line Item or Program of Record.
- Case Study & Thought Leadership Pipeline: Draft and place high-impact articles showcasing how AI-driven predictive logistics optimizes weapon system readiness and reduces WCF bleed.
- Industry Event Leverages: Maximize our executive presence and media engagement surrounding major defense milestones and conferences (e.g., AFA, operational showcases).

- Media Relationships: Established, warm relationships with leading defense tech journalists, defense acquisition analysts, and major think-tank contributors (e.g., Mitchell Institute, Govini, CNAS).
- Ability to write intelligently about secure software architecture (cATO, Impact Level 4/5).
