Job Description
As the Materials Planner, you will be responsible for:
- Performing strategic analysis of inventory portfolio and procuring materials in a timely, accurate, and cost-effective manner. Ensure that material is managed in a manner which balances customer satisfaction with fiscal constraints.
- Conducting ongoing analysis of inventory portfolio to identify optimization opportunities and cost reduction initiatives.
- Ordering stocked materials in a timely manner based on demand forecasts and inventory levels.
- Maintaining purchase order information, material master, and information record data in SAP with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Expediting deliveries and managing logistics by working collaboratively with vendors, carriers, brokers, and the traffic department.
- Maintaining up-to-date communication with sales teams and key customers to support demand planning and forecast accuracy.
- Developing and maintaining strong vendor relationships to ensure reliable supply and favorable terms.
- Conducting regular forecasting meetings with vendors, submitting vendor forecasts, and entering sales and customer forecasts in SAP.
- Reviewing, adjusting, and releasing system-generated forecasts to align with business requirements.
- Monitoring inventory accuracy and coordinating cycle counting activities to maintain data integrity.
- Evaluating supplier performance metrics and providing feedback to support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Managing demand variability and determining appropriate safety stock levels to minimize stockouts while controlling carrying costs.
- Collaborating with production and operations teams to align material availability with manufacturing schedules and customer delivery commitments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field
- Minimum 2+ years of professional experience in a material planning, or supply chain coordination role.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and French is a strong asset.
- Demonstrated excellence in customer service with a proven track record of building and maintaining strong customer relationships.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint) required; ability to create reports and analyze data using Excel.
- SAP experience required or strong willingness to quickly master SAP systems; experience with material management modules is preferred.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with experience in inventory analysis, forecasting, and process optimization.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate across all organizational levels and external partners.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and coordinate with internal departments and external vendors.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry, order management, and record maintenance.
- Product knowledge or industry experience in manufacturing, distribution, or supply chain management is preferred.
