Diablo/Freud Tools is looking for an energetic, go-getter and creative intern to assist our communications team in driving demand, engagement, and conversions for our Diablo/Freud Tools brands. You are currently at a college or university pursuing a degree in communications, public relations or a related degree and are interested in gaining real-world experience with an industry-leading organization. Previous knowledge of construction products and/or power tools is not required.

Job Description

The communications intern works alongside the Communication and PR Manager and community engagement team to assist in communication plans for upcoming campaigns, events, and daily social media engagement. Primary duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist with internal communications by gathering content for monthly newsletters and researching award submissions.
  • Assist in developing content for our company LinkedIn page.
  • Support external communications efforts by updating existing media/press lists and identifying new contacts and/or publications.
  • Identify potential key awards and recognition opportunities and their submission processes.
  • Support trade show and media event planning, to include sending invites and follow-up, developing media kits (print/digital), and providing post-event support to media.
  • Track and report on media coverage.

This internship will be 40 hours a week (with some flexibility) from May 28th to August 9th. This role is not remote.

Qualifications

  • Current university student in good standing (min. 3.0 GPA); pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degree in communications, public relations, or related field of study
  • Able and willing to work on-site
  • Knowledge and understanding of social media, media relations and/or corporate communications
  • Good knowledge of various content platforms such as social media, blogs, and print media.
  • Experience pitching ideas and story lines
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication and presentation skills 
  • The ability to keep abreast of content and consumer trends and advancements in social media
  • Excellent computer skills with MS Office (Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
