Job Description

The Facilities Maintenance Mechanic performs a wide variety of facilities maintenance, operates, and repairs facilities equipment, and provides support for all production areas and support groups.  Assignments may be in ventilation, air conditioning, specialty gases, hazmat support, electrical/electronics, with new and existing projects.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine tasks in support of plant maintenance in areas assigned.  Works with other mechanics to obtain desired results.
  • Performs routine preventative maintenance tasks with detailed instructions under close supervision.
  • Change filters, bearings on HVAC equipment. Replace large motors and pumps as needed.
  • Obtain and record systems readings and equipment operating conditions.
  • Performs housekeeping tasks within the maintenance area and maintains a safe working environment.
  • Maintains material inventories and spare parts areas.
  • Provides support for other mechanics (i.e., set up for equipment maintenance operations), provides labor as directed.
  • Good communication and record-keeping skills.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent trade school exp.
  • Must have the ability to multitask and work under pressure.
  • Basic electrical and mechanical fundamentals.
  • Strong ability to read, understand, and interpret technical documents and manuals.
  • Ability to create and maintain operating and training documents and manuals.
  • Strong communications skills with various audiences from vendors to fellow engineers to operators.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Good troubleshooting ability and ability to use necessary tools and equipment, (i.e., vom meters, strobes, etc.)
  • Ability to lift and handle up to 100 pounds safely.
  • 3 or more years of experience with areas such as: ventilation, air conditioning, electrical/electronics.
