The Opportunity

Come and discover the opportunity to join our Coupled Pickle Cold Mill (CPCM) team at our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility as a Reliability Engineer. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.

This position reports to the Coupled Pickle Cold Mill Asset Manager and is responsible for the mechanical reliability of the 5 Stand Cold Mill and Mill Exit units.

    What Will You Do?

    As a Reliability Engineer, you will deliver asset utilisation and maintenance management outcomes across the Cold Mill/Mill Exit units, undertake root cause analysis and problem solve within a variety of challenging manufacturing scenarios, and deliver a cost effective and quality focused maintenance function to the CPCM maintenance department. 

    You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, whilst coaching plant personnel on maintenance techniques and planning strategies for process improvement.

    In this challenging and diverse role, you will:

    • analyse asset performance and providing feedback to maintenance teams to improve equipment performance, capability and costs
    • ensure alignment of maintenance activities to support the business including budget management and effective and compliant maintenance documentation
    • provide leadership to the greater team and contractors
    • lead significant repairs, maintenance projects and asset improvement work

    More About You

    As an experienced mechanical or maintenance engineer, you will have strong demonstrated skills and knowledge in manufacturing asset maintenance, be skilled in problem solving and reliability improvement and bring a good understanding of modern manufacturing processes.  A strong technical and analytical capacity to extract, interpret and present report findings and implement improvements is essential.

    You will also possess the following:

    • degree qualifications in Mechanical Engineering
    • drive for team results, with a high level of technical acumen
    • highly developed interpersonal, change management and problem solving skills gained from experience within a similar environment
    • a safety focus encompassing people, plant and systems
    • strong understanding of SAP and MS Outlook, Word and Excel
