The Opportunity

Come and discover the opportunity to join our Energy Sourcing & Utilisation team at our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility as a Finance and Systems Analyst.

The Energy Sourcing & Utilisation (ESU) team provides the business with commercial and technical expertise to navigate the constantly evolving energy and climate landscape now and into the future. The team is responsible for managing BlueScope’s electricity, gas and utilities requirements across key manufacturing facilities in the Australian Steel Products portfolio.

In this role, you will utilise your financial expertise to support the finance function within ESU and Digital Services & Manufacturing Excellence (DS&ME) teams. You’ll support the day-to-day financial activities associated with natural gas, electricity and water contracts and arrangements, and drive the transformation of finance and systems processes across the Manufacturing energy and utilities footprint. You will be open to new challenges and enjoy developing a working knowledge of plant operations.

What Will You Do?

Reporting to the ESU Senior Commercial Analyst, you will:

  • undertake monthly accounting activities
  • support finance & commercial activities associated with electricity, natural gas and cryogenics costing and utilisation
  • manage and deliver finance planning, reporting, analysis and governance for the ESU and DS&ME teams
  • prepare and present financial evaluation modelling to support business initiatives
  • lead and drive process improvement and automation initiatives to transform finance processes

More About You

With your previous finance experience, along with your passion for process improvements, you will bring:

  • degree qualifications in a Commerce/Finance discipline
  • CA/CPA qualifications or be willing to work towards completing
  • an ability to communicate effectively and build constructive and effective relationships
  • proactive, forward thinking as you apply your strong analytical skills and maintain a high attention to detail

Exposure or knowledge of using systems such as TM1 and SAP R/3, as well as experience in an industrial setting would benefit your success in this role.
