The Opportunity

Come and discover the opportunity to join our Strategic Inspection Services team at our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility as a Crane Inspection Technician. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.

The Strategic Inspection Services team is a multi-disciplinary team, focusing on the quality inspection process of the plant equipment used in our manufacturing processes. In this specialised role, you’ll provide technical support of overhead cranes, lifting gear and ancillary equipment. You’ll identify and implement improvement opportunities in order to ensure the continuous reliability of these assets now, and into the future. You’ll work collaboratively with a team of technicians providing crane and structural inspections, focused on compliance with the relevant standards.

What Will You Do?

Reporting to the Strategic Inspections Team Leader, you’ll deliver ongoing technical support contributing to the improvement of the operation and maintenance of our cranes and structures. You will be responsible for: 

  • successfully contributing to a safe working environment
  • providing technical support and problem-solving insight as issues arise
  • utilising your technical knowledge to investigate and resolve faults
  • preparing written technical reports on equipment
  • building effective relationships with maintenance and engineering teams to drive the continuous reliability of our assets
