The Opportunity

Come and discover the opportunity to join our Cokemaking & Ironmaking team at our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility as a Senior Electrical Engineer on the #6 Blast Furnace Reline Project. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.

We are transforming and strengthening our business for the future and we want you to play your part in working together with us on a significant new project. You will provide leadership to the Electrical Engineering team to deliver key project outcomes. Working alongside a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, you will ensure all electrical engineering associated with the project is carried out efficiently, effectively, with quality and safety front of mind.

What Will You Do?

As the senior electrical engineering member of the 6BF Reline Project team, you will:

  • lead the electrical engineering team to support the development of project scope
  • create and manage all aspects of the work schedule of the team and consultants including contract management, document control, budget and reporting
  • develop and maintain systems and processes ensuring the highest quality practices are embedded
  • build strong relationships with external electrical providers and consultants  
  • identify and document all risks and controls associated with electrical engineering
  • grow and develop your team to consistently deliver the highest quality outcome for the project

More About You

An experienced electrical engineer, you will have sound leadership experience, work effectively in cross functional groups and thrive in a team environment. You will also have:

  • electrical engineer degree qualifications
  • effective communication skills with demonstrated experience leading a project team
  • broad understanding of engineering, construction and commissioning to allow tight integration of engineering workstreams
  • proven ability to engineer and delivery significant electrical packages through all project processes from the feasibility phase through to project handover
  • knowledge in HAZOP/CHAZOP or equivalent design process experience
  • experience in the pre-authorisation development and delivery of discipline engineering deliverables
  • proficient in MS Office suite, particularly MS Excel and Project
