Reporting to the Manager People Services, you will lead a valued business function of 13 employees, all operating together in a complex environment.

The team delivers accurate and timely end-to-end payroll nationally—covering more than 6,000 employees across various sites whilst ensuring compliance with required legislation, regulations, policies and industrial instruments. They also complete payroll reporting and handle service requests.

What will you do?

  • Create an inclusive and inspired team culture focused on optimisation, user experience and service excellence;
  • Develop a transformation road map for the payroll function and sponsor outcomes;
  • Guide and coach your team to enhance technical knowledge and understanding;
  • Stay informed of legislation, regulatory changes and operating risks, and communicate impacts to stakeholders;
  • Identify opportunities to reduce complexity and standardise processes;
  • Leverage technology and automation to increase efficiencies and accuracy; and
  • Enable team capacity to undertake value-add and project activities.

Who are we looking for?

You will have led a payroll function of a similar size or larger preferably within a shared services environment and be able to demonstrate:

  • extensive knowledge of Australian Payroll legislation and relevant employment laws;
  • ability to apply complex enterprise agreement and award entitlements to payroll systems;
  • success in engaging and developing an inclusive high-performance team;
  • how you developed and led improvements and innovations to transform payroll in your business; and
  • competency in Microsoft Office applications and payroll systems (e.g. SAP or an equivalent).
