Job Description

Your mission

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead our Monetize team, in charge of operating configurable tools for the monetization of all countries where BlaBlaCar is available.

The applications within the team’s scope are mostly developed in Java with the Spring framework, run in Kubernetes on Google Cloud Platform, communicated with other services through Kafka, and monitored with Prometheus and PagerDuty.  

Your responsabilities

As the Engineering Manager of the Monetize team, you’ll be responsible for:
 

  • Defining and managing the technical roadmap and delivery process of the team.

  • Supervising the development of the solutions designed by your team, ensuring performance, stability and long term scalability of the platform.

  • Closely collaborating with product management, business development and executive-level stakeholders; fueling our product objectives and business ambitions with meaningful technical support.    

  • Managing team organization, staffing, recruitment, career and personal development of your team staff. 

  • Managing technical relationships, working processes and operating mode with other technical teams.

Qualifications

Your qualifications

  • Proven experience as engineering manager with successful people management skills

  • Knows the ins and outs of managing the technical development of software solutions that are distributed globally

  • Experience in managing development processes using agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban 

  • Excellent communication skills, humility and eager to share & learn from others

  • Comfortable with change and ambiguity, with a strong ability to take a step back and lead tech  roadmap based on high level company objectives. 

  • Results-driven and impact-oriented mindset

  • Fluency in English
