For years Big Thinkers Science Exploration has provided fun and interactive educational science programming for children through exciting after-school programs, workshops, birthday parties, camps, shows & assemblies!  Led by Founder, Noreen the Science Queen, we are on a mission to inspire learning through fun science education and now it’s time to conquer a new frontier...the internet! 

Our goal is to launch a new marketing campaign to promote Big Thinkers and introduce and Noreen the Science Queen’s new "Girls in STEM" initiative. We want to reach a new audience in new ways by creating content for Youtube and social media with slime and explosively fun science experiments. Job Description

  • Assist with product development by testing experiments and taking pics or video of them, planning/production/editing of pics and video

  • Plan and find new things to try for videos, selecting experiments or curriculum to send in email newsletters or blogs. 

  • Write/revise lesson plans and activity titles, descriptions, step by step instructions, and explanations for live classes, at-home science kits, and social media videos.

  • Identify and source materials and supplies for content

  • Correlate material to national and state curriculum standards

  • Assist with photo/video shoot production, preparing and managing materials needed (excluding remote positions)

Qualifications

  • Applicants pursuing an Associate or Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Biochemistry, Education, or other science related fields are encouraged to apply

  • Curious and likes to tinker

  • Handy and creative

  • Experience in a laboratory environment and a student, assistant, or manager

  • Strong project management or organizational skills 

  • Problem solving and initiative is a must! 

  • Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas in written and verbal format, and build and maintain relationships

  • Good technical understanding and can pick up new tools quickly

  • Ability to work independently as well as with others

  • Must be able to commit to 2-3+ days/week. For credit 

  • For academic credit, must be able to commit to 10-15 hours a week for 10 weeks 

 

Additional Information

This internship is part-time with 10-15 hours per week for 10 weeks. This internship is unpaid, however, we can also work with you to earn academic credit. Assisting with experiments and hands-on work would be in person at our south Atlanta location or onsite at events. We may consider a remote position for certain contributors.
